EPISODE 24

I didn't want to spare any least chance because I hadn't gotten enough rest for sometime.

Agyeei! What was that? I rubbed my hand on my skin and caught it. It was an ant. Ha! These ants can really spoil one's mood. It was so painful that I couldn't sleep again. I checked the time and it was exactly 9:00am. I'm sure that ant was God sent. It came to wake me up. I stretched myself and washed my face, got some mouth wash for my mouth and put some mint in there. It was now time to get ready for the real deal. I wore my dress and watched myself in the mirror. I must confess, I looked real good. I flaunt my body before the mirror as if I was modeling for "Miss Exopa". I pulled a chair and sat before the dressing mirror. You know what needs to be done right? I applied some light make up to make me look beautiful. I got my wrist watch for my wrist, my earrings, necklace and bracelet to match.

All these while, my shoes were on my shoe rack smiling at me. I went for it and put it by me while I covered my shoulder with a cloth. I was now coming to style my hair. It was big braids so I only coiled it and left part to dangle. I looked at my face again in the mirror and I couldn't believe my mum gave birth to such an angel. I said a word of prayer, picked my handbag and the polybag which contained the gift and left. I wore my shoes at the entrance after I had locked the door.

"Sister Thessy, where are you off to this morning? I haven't seen you like this before. You are looking wonderful", this was coming from the landlady's daughter. "Oow girlfriend, thank you. I'm actually on my way to my best friend's marriage ceremony. I may or may not return. Just be good okay?", I said and left. Now, my confidence level had risen from 70-100. I've been told I'm looking wonderful. I joined a cab and gave the driver directions to the place. I could see him stealing glances at me through his mirror,  but I didn't care. That told me I had indeed stolen the day. I turned on my phone's data and went online. The rest of my friends were online. They were all on their way so we planned waiting for each other at the main gate so that we went together. Mariama was no exception.
For once,she contributed to everything we posted in the page. That was funny though because some things didn't really need responses, yet she would maneuver her way through and get something to say. In no time we had all gathered at the entrance. We were ushered in and given places to sit as "friends of the bride". As soon as we sat down, someone came to tap me. That was Atswei. What was she doing here? "I came with your mother. She's the one sitting there", she said pointing at her. I told my friends about so we all left to her so I could introduce them. I was wondering what she came here to do,  because she knew no one around. I'm sure that was why she called me. I should have returned her call when I missed it.
