*SHATTERED*

EPISODE 21

My plea didn't get to his ears.
I cried my heart out the whole day. There was no phone to reach my auntie. Because he knew what he had done could cause him lot of troubles, he called my auntie and leveled allegations against me. My auntie came back in the night very angry. She started barking at the main entrance even before she got home. I was soo scared that I went to coil myself behind the television. She turned on the light and saw me. My sisters, that is the end of my story. She beat me up mercilessly without asking me a word. I cried the whole night  but there was no one to help.

She could have at least given me a second to say something. Until that night, I never knew my auntie could be that wicked. I had no option than to ran away from home that night. I had some small amount of money on me. I left to my parents without my luggage.
It was dangerous though but I had to save my life. I was fortunate enough to have joined a vehicle of which I knew the driver and some few passengers. They were shocked to have seen the marks on me. I didn't have the strength to even explain anything to them.

(Mauuda had to cut in because her story, though had not yet ended, was pathetic)
Mauuda: Your story is so touching. You have really gone through hell,  but your body has been able to withstand the hot furnace.
(I saw something I've never seen in my life before. Mariama was shedding tears. This caught everyone's attention. It really meant Pat's story could change one's life from one to eighty eight).
Pat continued with her story.
"I got home very early to meet my mum doing her usual thing. She was sweeping the compound. She was surprised to see me in the company of two women from our village. She ran to meet us and asked if everything was alright. They lady told her I joined the same vehicle they joined last night but from all indications, there was something at stake.

She saw the marks on my body and shouted. She pulled me closer and called my dad. The women sought permission and left. My father couldn't control his anger when I told him all that happened. He called my auntie but she refused to pick. To cut the long story short, the man lost his two sons in a car accident. He later came in the company of my auntie to apologize. I just thanked God the truth lied at the bottom of the decanter. I had given birth as at that time to this lovely girl who is currently at the boarding house.

For my auntie, she's never been able to get closer to my family, and the man is paralysed. He's been sending people to come over to apologize. I haven't and wouldn't forgive him because,  he didn't think of it when he broke my heart."
O my goodness, damn it! When I think of some people's relationship  and life experiences, what comes to mind is the abusive relationship between teeth and the chewing of gum. That shit ain't easy dear.
