*SHATTERED*
EPISODE 13
This was somebody I was meeting for the first time and she was already cool with me.
You see why I always talk of favour? We got to my home where I made her feel comfortable. We went with a big white sac which contained the dresses. I helped her to untie the sac so that I could try the dresses on. They were nice dresses, really nice.
She helped me try them on one after the other. They all looked glamorous on me. I just couldn't choose any of them when she left me to make my choice.
I stood there for a while and picked a blue skirt which was the dress code. I again found a white top with a perfect picture of two ladies at the front view. That should represent Ma-uuda and myself, I thought. She looked at me in awe as I thanked her.
"Dede you aren't done with the selection yet. You are picking one more skirt and an extra top. Just feel free and make the best choice", Auntie Dela said.
I bent down to pick them as she had said. I was really happy everything was going on well. I had even forgotten about Atswei. I needed to call my mum and check on her if she had arrived. My mum would not call if I don't. I excused myself and picked my phone to call my mum. Just when my mum picked the call, auntie Dela also had a phone call.
We both spoke at the same time. I wasn't actually listening to her because it was none of my business.
Me: Mama, Atswei ba su lo?(Mama, please has Atswei arrived)
Mum: ee eba su k3....motswum kaa...enine su sika ) k3 os3) n).....ma p3t3 he gya ( yes, long time. Thank you. I've received the money and your message too. I will manage this.)
Me: yooo....ebi3 nofia n) (okay. My regards to everyone.)
(I hanged up)
"That was my old lady", I told Auntie Dela who was also done with her call. "Oo okay. I hope she is fine", she enquired. I told her she's fine, just that her demands make me sick and make life also unbearable. She laughed it off.
"Dede, your things are ready. The man called me so I've directed him. He's on his way here. I will wait for you to inspect it and tell me your take on that okay. I'm doing all these because you are a krobo, and...you look just like my only daughter whom I lost barely a year ago ", she said with tears in her eyes. Though I was happy, I couldn't hide my tears. So she had no child? She realised how sad was and said, "sweetheart, never mind. The most important thing is that we are alive and healthy. I ran to embrace her.
Few minutes after, we heard a knock on the door. That must be him. I ran to open the door for him. He had the items nicely packaged in a carton. I tried to help him but he insisted I stopped because they were heavy for me as a lady. He brought them in and opened it. I just couldn't believe my eyes. There was no fault with it. He was really good with his work. As for the photo collage, seeing it with your own eyes would help you testify. They were really nice. I saw something white in there. I didn't request for anything of that sort. Auntie Dela saw the surprise on my face and said, "yes, you didn't request for it but I ordered him to do it for u. Pick it up and see for yourself". It was a white face towel with an inscription which read, "it's a blessing to have the bride as my friend...from Dede". Woooow... It never came to mind. It really was a blessing to have her a friend, but the name...ouch! It nearly escaped me. Ma-uuda knew I was called Dede so there was no cause for alarm.
I didn't know who to hug so I ran to Auntie Dela and hugged her, then to the man to shake hands with him.
