EPISODE 1
What at all is this world made of? Today you embrace a man, tomorrow you burry the embraced man.
Here I am at the cemetery thinking of what to do with my life? I wish Nana Yaw Acheampong would resurrect and say something to me. I've lived all my life under the spell of my Nana Yaw Acheampong. I've loved him with my all and heaven bears me witness. My books can also testify that I loved him.
Hmmmmm...for how long will I continue to mourn him? I got up, cleaned my dress off any dirt and headed home. I sang solemnly to myself as I walked home. Honestly speaking, I was more than scared. I doubled my steps to avoid any harmful creature. Walking alone at this hour means danger. I wish I came with a friend, but who would understand?
I'm now a laughing stock on the lips of many.
I came across a group of people who were soo happy. That's how the world is. They looked notorious and rowdy. Whatever they were doing was none of my business. All I needed to do was to think of my late boyfriend who planted in me a baby. My baby, though will not have a father, will bring me much joy. I only pray he looks just like his dad.
Three of the guys rushed towards me as if I'd stolen something from them. They tried to talk to me, but my mood wasn't right to answer any question.
They dragged me to a nearby uncompleted building, and gave an order to one masculine guy to come on top of me. I cried and begged them to let me go because I was pregnant. It all fell on deaf ears.
The guy loosed his belt and jumped on me. My plea wasn't enough stop him.
I bled as he thrusted sharply and painfully.
My baby is at stake. God please protect my baby.
They left me in distress and went away. I put myself together and went home.
This world is really a bitter place to live. I wish death would lay its icy hands on me. I can't live alone in a world full of sorrows and grief?
I miss my love.
I slept steadily in my couch and listened to some cool music which Nana Yaw loved so much. Memories of him couldn't cease running through my mind. I jumped out of the couch and headed straight to where my books had been packed. I searched through my books for nothing. Finally, I got hold of an old tattered album. I sat on the floor and took my time to open it.
I came across pictures of my loved one. One picture that put me to sleep after an endless cry was one we snapped together. We snapped the picture in senior high school during one of our lovely moments. I had my head resting on his chest.
I took the picture, stared at it and cried as all those lost memories found their way back to my mind.
Indeed, life has been cruel to me. I heard my phone ring in my dreams. I found it hard to stretch my hand to reach my phone. I slept and rolled uncomfortably on the floor as my phone also continued to ring.
I lazily picked the phone and saw the name on it. Not at this time. Not when I needed peace to sleep. It was my muslim friend. What is it that can't wait? I rejected the call but it kept coming through. I had no option than to pick.
While talking to her, another friend of ours called. I had to conference the call. They all seemed to be talking of one thing.
"Well, I will try my best and be there. You all know what I'm going through. But the worst of it happened last night. I went to the cemetery to talk to my Nana Yaw. On my way back, I was..."
That was all I remember I said. I opened my eyes and found my four friends around me. They shouted with joy when I opened my eyes and smiled at them.

EPISODE 2
They shouted with joy when I opened my eyes and smiled at them.
I've lost my baby. They were too harsh on me. I remember feeling a sharp pain in my lower abdomen, and seeing blood ooze along my thighs.
I narrated to them how everything happened. Though I was sad, I was happy every procedure conducted on me was successful. I needed to spend more days at the hospital under strict observation. That would mean spending more money. Where will I get that money from? Even the one to settle the procedure has not come into the scene.
My facial expression changed as I thought of the bill. I picked my phone and requested I get my cheque book to sign for an overdraft. That would at least save me from the hands of these doctors.
"Thessy, hope you aren't writing that for your bill, because it has been settled. Ma-uuda passed by to settle it and gave us enough money for anything that comes up. She's busily preparing for the ceremony so she might be here tonight. All you need to do is to eat healthy, live healthy and sleep", Naa said.
Wow...she did what? She settled my bill? That was enough kindness.
Ma-uuda has been a close friend since we both met in level 100 in the tertiary institution, and she has been a solid rock for me.
She's been there for me even when I least expected it.
What then would prevent me from attending her wedding ceremony? By hook or crook, I would be there.
All I needed to do was to be out of the hospital.
My eyes were filled with tears as I thought of what to get for her as appreciation and well wishing gifts on that glorious day.
Nothing good came to mind. Maybe I will have to recover first, go to the gift shop and then, talk to the customer attendant. He or she would be in the best position to get me something nicer, if not expensive.
I prayed that I recovered quickly and made it to the wedding. Even if I wasn't too well, I only needed the strength to stand on my feet and grace the occasion.
Days passed by without me going home. All I was seeing were my friends, doctors and drugs. They were not pleasant to my eyes. I wanted to see my friend and no one else. My bride to be...
There I saw someone run to my room. He called aside one of my friends and whispered something into her ears. Whatever she was told was not disclosed to me. I guess it was more personal than I thought.
My friend came to me and said, "I will be with you shortly". I nodded and turned to rest for a while.
Few minutes later, a nurse came to me and asked, "are your people back? I thought you would be home by now because, they came to tell the doctor you needed to be discharged, so they have been told to go and pay your bills." Ooh that? Woooow...that's good news then. I smiled to myself. At least, my nightmares at the hospital will be over. I am finally going home to meet my house and have a cool shower.

EPISODE 3
I am finally going home to meet my house and have a cool shower.
My friends came back to help me pack my things. Whichever reason it was, was not disclosed me. I actually wanted to leave so what else? I joined them in their nice corolla as we sped off. We were all quiet in the car. Will someone tell me what is going on?
In as much as I wanted to go home, I needed to find out what was happening.
The driver finally pulled to a halt when we got to a nearby police station. I hope there isn't any issue.
My heart freaked out when I saw Ma-uuda come out of the police station. What was it this time?
I opened the car and rushed to her. I tried to ask her some few questions that found their way into my mind, but she was fast to have answered me.
"Mariama used one of my vehicles which wasn't licensed today so she was arrested. I came to pay something small to get her out", she said. Hmmmm...Mariama won't change. She's been one hell of a girl who always sees herself jumping from one trouble to the other.
Mariama joined Ma-uuda in her car and we all left for home.
The driver took us to Ma-uuda's father's house. It was a very big apartment with house helps all over.
I knew she was rich but not to this extent.
We all walked to the hall and made ourselves comfortable. Ma-uuda joined in later and asked that we came to the dinning table and had something for ourselves.
I was really hungry. I guess that was a perfect atmosphere for my abdomen to feel good.
The whole table was filled with variety of meals and assorted drinks. Whose birthday was it? I asked.
My thoughts became louder than I expected.
Ma-uuda smiled at me and said, "Sweetheart, I did everything specially for you. Today is exactly three years since we became friends, and I deem it a great honour to celebrate it. I know it might have escaped you because of the trauma, but hei, I'm always here for you. Come on, let's celebrate".
Really? She still had the date in mind? It dawned on me as I opened my eyes and covered my mouth with my hands. I can't believe this.
I ran to hug her as I shed tears.
She slowly took my hand and led me to the dinning table where everyone was seated. It seemed thy all knew the purpose for the gathering. We talked and laughed heartily as we ate.
One of the chairs was empty. Whose seat could that be? Naa told us she saw Mariama dash out of the kitchen few minutes ago, sure she was going for something.
We continued with our usual chit chat as ladies. Everybody had almost finished consuming the food, yet there was no sign of Mariama. Ma-uuda asked that she be searched for since her food was catching cold.

EPISODE 4
Ma-uuda asked that she be searched for since her food was catching cold.
They searched everywhere for her but she wasn't around. Her number wasn't going through either. I just pray nothing bad befalls her. Yea, she is one cunning girl but not today.
We continued trying her phone. It finally went through and she picked up.
Mariama: Yea
Naa: where are you? We are looking for you.
Mariama: oow...I thought I told you guys to excuse me. My cousin is back from the states. He's been around for a week without my knowledge. He just had my number to call and he will be leaving tomorrow. I will be with you guys please.
She said this and hanged up. I sensed something fishy somewhere, but who was I to complain?
We all stared at each other's faces and sat down again to enjoy our drinks.
I was lost in thought completely. All I was doing was trying to figure out where exactly Mariama would be. I didn't notice her disappearance on time. I would have known the truth.
Whichever way it was, she was gone and that was it.
I still remembered everything that had happened to me within a flash. The death of my loved one, the rape incidence and the loss of my baby. Before I realized, I was swallowing my own tears.
I couldn't hide it anymore. Naa reached for my hand as Ma-uuda drew closer to wrap her hand around my neck.
"Sweetheart, for how long will you continue to be like this? We are here for you and that is the most important thing", Ma-uuda said.
She at least managed to put smile back on my face. We continued to laugh our hearts out. You know how we ladies do it.
As the conversation was ongoing, one of the security men brought a note to Ma-uuda.
"Wooooow, I can't believe it. That will be perfect. Just perfect. Thank you sooooo much guys", she said with joy.
It turned out to be that they were planning to have a bridal shower the following day for her since the marriage ceremony was just few hours away.
I didn't know but that didn't give me any reason to play dumb. I joined in the celebration.
I picked my phone and checked the time. It was late. None of us knew because we were soo much engulfed with the conversation.
Ma-uuda opted that we sleep over but none was willing to since we all had to go prepare for the bridal shower and big day ahead.
"Okay then girlfriends, 6:45pm it is right?" I asked. "Sure", Patience responded.
I entered one of the cars parked at Ma-uuda's place as the driver sped off to my residence.
I thanked him and got down when we got there.

EPISODE 5
I thanked him and got down when we got there.
That night I couldn't sleep. I had to make preparations for the programme. What to wear for the bridal shower, the marriage ceremony and the gifts to get for her as well.
She may not be expecting something big from me, but I had to surprise her. This was going to be her day and nothing should stop tears and laughter from dripping down her cheeks.
I quickly picked my phone, went on whatsapp and created a page comprising Mariama, Naa, Patience, Jocelyn and myself. It seemed they were all waiting to be called except for Mariama who was last seen on whatsapp around 2:28pm.
As soon as the group was created, Jocelyn posted a comment that got everyone laughing. "Perfect platform for 48-72 hours", she said.
Indeed, it was the perfect platform to address any issue concerning the task ahead of us.
I posted my first question which went like, "are we to wear same dress or color tomorrow for the bridal shower?". This brought many feedbacks but we eventually agreed that we wore same color, but different dresses. Patience added that we all be in short skirt.
That was a cool idea as well.
The chosen color was sea blue and white since it was Ma-uuda's favorite color. We needed to make the best out of that day.
Naa followed with a question which also had different answers from us all. As for gifts, we had to choose our own varieties and make her happy.
We needed not to discuss that. We quickly drew the the curtain on that. I slept on my bed, still wondering where Mariama would be. It seems I was worrying my little head too much, because it started aching. I took a glass of water which I couldn't even drink. I placed the glass of water near my bed and sat down.
Since sleep wasn't coming to embrace me, I would find something meaningful to do with my life.
I checked my airtime balance and realised I had enough bundle to get me online for my research. I needed to get a nice parcel which would surprise everyone. Something small, but nice and classy. I wasn't getting what I really wanted. Perhaps, God wanted me to make good use of my mind instead of copying people. I logged out and went back to whatssapp. Guess you know what I went there to do. To check people's display profile (dp),maybe I would get something nice there. I scrolled till I could go no more... But something caught my attention.
I stopped to stare at it again to be sure I wasn't dreaming.
Mariama's dp was sick. Which noble lady will ever do this? To display a picture of herself and a guy almost naked and kissing?
I needed to talk some sense into her if she had lost it completely.
Thank God! She was online. As soon as I started typing, she went off. Nonetheless, I still had to go ahead. She would definitely see it.
She came back online few seconds after I'd sent the message.
Her reply didn't surprise me at all because she's been one hell of a girl since day one. "Mtcheeeew, how is that supposed to be your problem? Di wo fie as3m ewura. I knew if no one stalks me, you will come doing that", was her reply.
She blocked me but I was quick enough to have saved the dp. I needed time to evaluate things. Was that the brother she was talking about? Hell No! She can't do that with her brother? Or?
Anyway, Mariama was capable of doing anything. My only fear was about her HIV status. She really needed to check it, but who would convince her?

EPISODE 6
She really needed to check it, but who would convince her?
Who at all would do that? She wasn't the type who could easily be approached.
I opened my eyes and realised it was almost day break. I've been sleeping in the arm chair all this while. No wonder I was surviving some pain around my neck. I got up and stretched myself to prepare for the day's tedious activities. I had forgotten one thing. I hadn't prayed. I hadn't done that since I was discharged, not to talk of thanking Him for helping me see another beautiful morning.
I knelt by my bed quietly. For like a minute or two, nothing had come out of my mouth. Not that I was short of words, but Mariama's issue managed to sail through my mind. This thing was really eating much of my time. I closed my eyes, sang some songs and prayed for some few minutes. Just when I was about holding my door nob, someone knocked.
Who could that be? It was an ungodly hour and I wasn't expecting anyone. None of my friends would also come around. They would have called to alert me.
I was becoming more careful this time considering what had happened to me in the last few days. I was getting scared. What if the person pushes the door and pounces on me? I think I have to open the door. No! They might be more than one. I sat on my bed pretending there was nobody around. The person kept knocking. This time around louder, clearer and impatiently. It seemed the person wasn't willing to go.
I looked up at the wall clock to be sure of the time. It was 4:57am. Agh! Hmm...
I finally responded with a sleepy voice pretending to make it seem like I've been sleeping very deep.
The voice was that of a female but wasn't familiar. I asked her who she was and her first word got me jumping out of my bed.
"Dede, it's me", she said. Dede was my local name so for her to have mentioned it, then the person really knew me. I opened the door and it was my cousin. I was really surprised to see her. I allowed her in. She wasn't with any bag or whatsoever. How did she manage to get my address? Besides, it'd been like ages since she last saw me.
I offered her a seat to sit down and make herself comfortable. I realised she was exhausted considering the look on her face and her unkempt hair.
"Atswei, will you like to sleep for a while so we talk later?", I asked her. She nodded in affirmation so I prepared my mattress for her to sleep. She slept off as soon as she laid on the bed. She really must be tired.
I went back to sit in the chair to watch her. Where at all was she coming from? I was only hoping and praying she wasn't coming from any of her boyfriends, because she was one bad girl. I realized her presence was taking much of time so I got up and decided to put my place in order.
You know how we do it in Ghana. Our culture demands you give your visitor the best treatment. I went to the kitchen to prepare some oat for her while she slept, and got some hot water for the flask. Perhaps, she might choose lipton over oat.
I placed them on my small table which I mostly use as my dining table. I went to the fridge, picked sugar and lipton. It seemed I wasn't having bread nor milk.
O God! What do I do? The place is far. I got the mug ready for the table, covered it and went out. I did all these cautiously so as not to disturb her sleep.
While wearing my slippers, I saw my landlady's daughter running out. I called to ask if she was going somewhere. Thank God she was going to get milk. I begged her to get me a tin of milk in addition to the bread. At least, I'd been released because I was thinking of how to get there.

EPISODE 7
At least, I'd been released because I was thinking of how to get there.
I got back to my room, picked my towel and went to wash down. I had to finish everything on time since I would be going to the gift shop.
My cousin was still enjoying her sleep as at the time I returned from the bathroom. It appeared she was really tired. I dressed up and sat in the chair. I couldn't leave without talking to her. That would signal a different message.
I picked my phone to reach my friends. Today was the day. A happy day in the life of Ma-uuda. She deserved every little bit of our attention and time.
I called Naa. It was as if she was expecting my call. As soon as the call went through, she went like, "awula, come online." I hanged up and turned on my data.
786 unread messages from the page? What at all have they been talking about? I didn't have much time to read through. I apologised to them and asked of the latest development.
"While you were away, I told them about something I've planned doing. We can't go there to put the place in order before going back at 6:45pm. And we can't also leave Ma-uuda to do that....so I've paid some guys to go and do that. I did the payment out of our contribution. Sure they will do it well to suit the occasion", Jocelyn said.
Woooooow...I was surprised. It never dawned on me. She was such a great friend who hardly talked and when she did, ooooow, heavens kissed her feet.
Patience came in to remind us of the time, "Charlie, no Ghana man time biaaooo. We need to get there before the said time. Let's make this day a day to remember".... Yeah, a day to remember..."and please don't forget the color for the program is sea blue and white", she finally ended.
As usual, we can never end our chat without Naa asking of Mariama, "Eei, so this Mariama girl has decided not to say a word though she's been online for some time. She came online last night but gave no reply to the messages I sent her. I'm just hoping everything is alright."
"Yea, just hoping so too or perhaps her cousin is taking much of her time. You know how these "been to" guys behave when they finally come back to their country? I pray he leaves her to join us tonight", I added.

EPISODE 8
I pray he leaves her to join us tonight, I added.
There was a knock on the door. That was my landlady's daughter. That was hasty you know? I would have spent more than necessary hours on my way if I had gone there myself. I rushed to the door, picked the things and thanked her. I tried so hard not to interrupt Atswei's sleep. I quietly picked a plate and knife I placed on the fridge to slice the bread for her.
Ooow! She woke up. The polythene bag was torn so the milk fell out of it. It didn't drop anywhere than the stainless bucket which I had placed there few minutes ago.
The sound alone was enough to wake a corpse. I apologised to her for disturbing her sleep. She appeared lost in thought for the first few seconds but that was short lived. She smiled and sat on the bed. "I hope I didn't spoil your sweet dream, and anyway, a very beautiful morning to you", I said. "No no, not at all. I was only struggling to open my eyes", she replied.
Though I saw her with nothing, I pretensiously asked, "did you come with your sponge and towel?" She shook her head like a 6 months old baby who was being introduced to complementary feeding for the first time. I went into my things and got some old towel and sponge, picked a new brush and took it to the bathroom. Toothpaste, soap and water were already available. I told her to wash down while I sliced the bread. I opened the milk and placed it gently on the table. I was getting tired now. I dressed the mattress and laid on it while she washed down.
We would talk once she was back and making justice to her food, so I would know where she came from and how she managed to get my address.
She didn't keep long at the bathroom at all. I showed her where the cosmetics were so she could make do with them. I pointed out her food to her and told her they were oat and lipton so she could take any. I realised she wasn't okay with it so I told her to take it because that is what we took in the city. There was no time for one to go to the kitchen to get fufu or banku while you know you had limited time to go to work or school. She sat down to take it... Whether she enjoyed it or not, that was her own headache.

EPISODE 9
Whether she enjoyed it or not, that was her own headache.
I couldn't hold my breathe any more. I finally broke the silence and asked, "Atswei, while eating, let me use that as a medium to ask you this question because I'm actually on my way out. I'm a bit late because of you. One of my colleagues is getting married tomorrow and..." I didn't finish with my statement and she jumped in. "Wooow, wedding? Tomorrow? That was the main reason why I even came around. Your mother sent me to tell you to get her some money. She's attending a wedding tomorrow. The person happens to be a very close relation so she needs to present nice items".
Wedding? My mother? Close relation? Then who could that be? She could have at least called me to inform me before sending her over. I went ahead to ask her, "so she gave you my address and phone number and you also decided never to call? What if you came to meet my absence?". She laughed it off and said, "I don't use any phone. The number was given to me to be used in case of any difficulty, but I didn't encounter any. I set off around 1:30am and I'm expected to return soon".
Hmmmm...well, our old ladies will never change. I got her a phone so she could have at least called or flashed me. I just didn't seem to understand her. I tried reaching her. She picked as soon as I called. Mum: "Dede, Atswei ba su lo? Ekpa mo p33, ope n3 ong) sika ham....ele kaa ong3 saminya ebi yo kae p3...noko omagye ooo, omany3 maba wem h)gba aloo h)gbi lo?....eng3 noko ne made mo s3 ebi ny33 m'ade o ng3 fon n).
( Dede, has Atswei arrived? Please do well to get me the money. I know you are fine my only daughter. Before you go, can you come home on Sunday or Monday? I have this news I want to break to you. It won't be appropriate to do it on phone"). That was krobo language.
What at all was wrong with this woman? She wouldn't wait for me to even say a word. All she did was to rattle and rattle.
Me: "Eeerm, mama, ebi ny3 m'aba wem ooo l) k3 omany3 k3 ma wo be ekpa aa (I can't make it home now so if it will be possible, let's postpone the meeting)". She gladly understood it, but one thing was for sure when she said, "yooo, mo l33 ekpa mo p33 obo m)den n3 ong) sika k3 ha Atswei ne ewo dwa ham....ole kaa ew3 ne mab)ne ehe pem kaa nomoyo (Okay, but please give Atswei the money so that I go and make my shopping. You know I'm not too old to look good.)
I laughed and hanged up.
Atswei was almost done with her food. She was enjoying the oat and milk. "Atswei, sorry for disturbing you but who is this close relation mum is talking about?", I enquired. She didn't know the person by name. All she did know was that the person has been coming around for some time. I sighed and stood up. I reached for my drawer n got an amount of 400.00 for her. "Please give it to the old woman. Tell her that is all I have to offer. I'm not sure I can send her money next month because it's been less than two weeks since I sent her money.
As you can see, I'm left with nothing in my drawer"... (thank God I hid the money under my bed when I heard the knock on my door. I left that to be given to the person if it were to be an armed robber. I also put huge amount of money I will be needing for the shopping in my bag while she was bathing).
She nodded her head as I explained to her. She seemed to be getting worried for me when I said I had no money on me. I told her not to worry. All I needed her to do was to hurriedly eat so I would get a vehicle for her, because I was on my way out.

EPISODE 10
All I needed her to do was for her to hurriedly eat so I would get a vehicle for her, because I was on my way out.
I left the cups and everything on the table after she had finished eating. I was getting late. I needed to get there on time so that the shop attendant would help me choose the best of things. I didn't want to go and meet people there. We both rushed out, picked a cab right in front of my building and set off. I paid the driver and asked him to take her to the station to pick a bus to our hometown. I was getting late, otherwise, I would have gone with her to get a vehicle for her . She smiled at me and said, "don't worry,I understand you."
Well, whichever way it was, I needed her to give the money and information to my mother. I didn't know how to tell her to keep the money well since I wasn't trusting the driver. He could do anything to her and take the money. I leaned over her shoulder and said in our language, Charley, op3 careful k3 k) deal ) he oo (charlie, be careful about the deal). She was a smart girl so she knew what I was talking about.
I got her some 50.00 to keep on her and left. That would be enough for her transportation and her upkeep.
I quickly crossed the road, stood there to think of which route would serve as a short distance for me. I didn't want to use any route which would make me stay for hours without getting to the shop on time. I turned left and used a street down the lane. All this while, I had my small handbag well fixed under my armpit. I briskly walked through the "early morning busy" people and got to the shop. How fortunate I was!
They had just finished cleaning and dusting the shop when I got there. I gave a sigh of relief and went over to the counter. There were many attendants around to help me choose my gifts.
"Hello, a very good morning to you please. As you can see, I managed to get here in time so that you could assist me choose something special, very very special for my best friend. She's having a bridal shower tonight and her marriage ceremony is tomorrow. I don't know what to get for her please", I pleaded.
One fair colored lady showed up and said, "talk to me my dear. How special is this friend?" Initially I didn't want to answer her, though she put up a very welcoming and smiling face. She came from nowhere. The ladies behind the counter gave a chorus answer, "..yes...yes...please talk to her. She will be the best person to help you. That is the owner of the shop and we must say you are fortunate. She brought new stuffs so that will do you lot of good."
I turned and smiled to her. She took me by the hand and we walked away from the counter. I overhead one girl say, "eei, this girl is really lucky. Madam herself...heheheeeeii..she hardly spends even five minutes here." I turned to look at her and smile. That was to make her know that I heard everything. It wasn't luck but favour.

EPISODE 11
It wasn't luck but favor.
Favor came to those who sought it's face. I walked side by side with the madam of the gift shop. She introduced herself as Auntie Dela. A very nice local name she's got. "I'm Dede", I said. She gave me her local name so I had to do same.
"Oow Dede! You must be a krobo then. My husband is a krobo. He's a very good man so I'm sure you are as well", she said. I smiled without saying a word. "Anyway, back to what you came to get for your friend, do you have much money to spend or you actually want to get something simple for her? I'm introducing something new today and with you being my first customer from the krobo land, I will give you special discounts on some particular items", Auntie Dela said. Hmmmm, talking of money, I had 1500.00 to spend on her. I didn't care going to get much money. I knew what I was doing. That was my best friend and she deserved the very best of gifts nature could afford to give out.
I went closer to Auntie Dede's ear and told her to get me the things. I will opt for them if only they were nice. She took me by the hand to a small room. The room looked so unkempt with ceramics and porcelain laying on the floor. There were also carved woods with saw dusts on the floor. The place was too dusty for me so I begun to cough.
"Sorry my dear. I can see you are allergic to what I'm doing", a voice said from nowhere. I got frightened and jumped up. A man who seemed to have been working tirelessly showed up with his tools. "Don't be scared angel, that is what I do here. Tell me what you want and you will get it within the next few minutes. I customise plates (be it porcelain or ceramic), silver cutlery (with or without wooden handle) and the best of it all, I make photo collages with memories. The photo collage is what takes some time, but even that it takes less than two hours depending on what you want", he added. It seem I liked almost everything he had mentioned. I turned to Auntie Dela and smiled at her. She understood what my smiles meant. I was scared of the prices. She pointed out something on the wall to me. Those were the list of things customised there with their prices.
I went closer to take a look at them. They were not expensive at all, besides, the things were done in sets if you so wanted it. I requested for the set of porcelain plates and cutlery with wooden handle...but, I didn't know the surname of the groom. I stood there for a while and decided to use Ma-uuda's name since it was her day. I wrote the name for him and told him to customize it nicely. I pulled out my phone, went through my gallery and got some nice old pictures of Ma-uuda and myself. Those would serve as great memories. I sent it to the man's phone through his Bluetooth and added some few ones we took not along ago. Just hoping he makes the best out of them for the collage.
I didn't want to keep long there since I had other things to buy for the wedding so I enquired if they did delivery. Auntie Dela's answer moved me, "we do delivery no matter your location. All you need to do is to make part payment and the rest will be dealt with."
Then that means I can go and buy the rest of my things, then go and rest as he takes his time to neatly design it.

EPISODE 12
Just hoping he makes the best out of them for the collage.
I made the deposit to Auntie Dela and gave my address to her. She already knew the place. Her place of worship was just adjacent my house. She realised I was soo much in a hurry. "Should I give you a drive? I'm on my way out and I will be using your route. I need to deliver some dresses to a friend", she said. Dresses, wish I could see them. She might perhaps have what I'm going to get. I also needed to get some two or three things to present on the day of the occasion, meaning I can't leave with her in her car.
"....eeermm auntie Dela, thanks so much. I really appreciate your effort, but I'm sorry I have to turn you down. I still need to get some few items to present tomorrow. I don't have anything in mind though, but going to check some other places", I said.
"Other things? We got more things here, ranging from designer perfumes, watches with names and class...I mean, name them. With such things, you can get just one for the person and she will forever owe you", he quickly replied. Really? Then I will check on them. Her things were not as expensive as I had thought of.
Again, she took me by the hand and we went to another room. Her place was a very big place. You wouldn't know it unless they took you round, which of course I'm not sure her people would do.
The things in that room looked very nice. Indeed only one gift from this room can blow Ma-uuda's head off. I took my time to inspect the things very well before making a choice. I didn't know which one to go in for. I excused myself, opened my bag and separated the remaining amount of money for the customised gifts from what I had to make do with. I still had enough to spare. Mooorrreeee than enough! I went back to her and checked on the prices of the things. I can perhaps get something nice for myself. "Dede, remember I told you I'm gonna give you a special discount. This is the time. It nearly escaped me and you didn't bother to remind me. That is bad of you. Anyway, you can check the prices for yourself. They are on the items", she said.
I got a designer bag, silver bracelet and wrist watches. These, I'm sure will do for the wedding. She would be happy I guess. Auntie Dela saw the smiles on my face. I really appreciated everything. I just wished I could pay the rest of the amount of money for the customised items so that I forget about them, but Auntie Dela insisted I kept it till he was done and was ready for delivery. I joined her in her car as her workers watched us in surprise. I'm sure it was something she hardly did. I joined her at the front seat while we enjoyed our conversation. "...ahaa Auntie Dela, you made mention of some dresses which you going to give to a friend. Please if I may ask, are they for sale? I'm in need of a short sea blue skirt", I asked her.
"Eeiii, sweetheart, I'm sure this day was certainly meant for both of us. What I have here are short skirts and white tops. The skirts are of different colors. I will give you some for free. This is coming from me to you, so what we will do is to go to your place for you to try them on okay"? I was really surprised with that. This was somebody I was meeting for the first time and she was already cool with me.

EPISODE 13
This was somebody I was meeting for the first time and she was already cool with me.
You see why I always talk of favour? We got to my home where I made her feel comfortable. We went with a big white sac which contained the dresses. I helped her to untie the sac so that I could try the dresses on. They were nice dresses, really nice.
She helped me try them on one after the other. They all looked glamorous on me. I just couldn't choose any of them when she left me to make my choice.
I stood there for a while and picked a blue skirt which was the dress code. I again found a white top with a perfect picture of two ladies at the front view. That should represent Ma-uuda and myself, I thought. She looked at me in awe as I thanked her.
"Dede you aren't done with the selection yet. You are picking one more skirt and an extra top. Just feel free and make the best choice", Auntie Dela said.
I bent down to pick them as she had said. I was really happy everything was going on well. I had even forgotten about Atswei. I needed to call my mum and check on her if she had arrived. My mum would not call if I don't. I excused myself and picked my phone to call my mum. Just when my mum picked the call, auntie Dela also had a phone call.
We both spoke at the same time. I wasn't actually listening to her because it was none of my business.
Me: Mama, Atswei ba su lo?(Mama, please has Atswei arrived)
Mum: ee eba su k3....motswum kaa...enine su sika ) k3 os3) n).....ma p3t3 he gya ( yes, long time. Thank you. I've received the money and your message too. I will manage this.)
Me: yooo....ebi3 nofia n) (okay. My regards to everyone.)
(I hanged up)
"That was my old lady", I told Auntie Dela who was also done with her call. "Oo okay. I hope she is fine", she enquired. I told her she's fine, just that her demands make me sick and make life also unbearable. She laughed it off.
"Dede, your things are ready. The man called me so I've directed him. He's on his way here. I will wait for you to inspect it and tell me your take on that okay. I'm doing all these because you are a krobo, and...you look just like my only daughter whom I lost barely a year ago ", she said with tears in her eyes. Though I was happy, I couldn't hide my tears. So she had no child? She realised how sad was and said, "sweetheart, never mind. The most important thing is that we are alive and healthy. I ran to embrace her.
Few minutes after, we heard a knock on the door. That must be him. I ran to open the door for him. He had the items nicely packaged in a carton. I tried to help him but he insisted I stopped because they were heavy for me as a lady. He brought them in and opened it. I just couldn't believe my eyes. There was no fault with it. He was really good with his work. As for the photo collage, seeing it with your own eyes would help you testify. They were really nice. I saw something white in there. I didn't request for anything of that sort. Auntie Dela saw the surprise on my face and said, "yes, you didn't request for it but I ordered him to do it for u. Pick it up and see for yourself". It was a white face towel with an inscription which read, "it's a blessing to have the bride as my friend...from Dede". Woooow... It never came to mind. It really was a blessing to have her a friend, but the name...ouch! It nearly escaped me. Ma-uuda knew I was called Dede so there was no cause for alarm.
I didn't know who to hug so I ran to Auntie Dela and hugged her, then to the man to shake hands with him.

EPISODE 14
I didn't know who to hug so I ran to Auntie Dela and hugged her, then to the man to shake hands with him.
I reached for my bag and made the final payment. There was no time to waste. The things were really nice. I tried to arrange them nicely in the carton, but the man said, "there is another surprise for you. You can't present this carton to your friend so I brought another carton for you. I placed it outside because I didn't want you to see it. Wait here, I will get it." He came back with a very beautiful and colorfully designed carton. "Here, take a look at it. Isn't it beautiful? At our place, unless you don't buy customized plates, if you do, you are sure to go home with such things as surprises. Now, let me help you with the packaging so that you see for yourself the last but not the least surprise", he added.
Huh? Another surprise? No no no, but why will Auntie Dela do all these? If I should go there on three ocassions, I'm sure I will collapse her business. I looked at her without saying a word. I'm sure she knew what I was thinking of so she said, "Dede, the money you paid for covered for those things.
All I did was to get you the face towel and reduce the prices on the things you bought for the wedding. You actually paid for them so you deserve them". I paid for them? How? But I didn't pay any huge amount of money because I returned with much amount of money. At this time, I just couldn't wait to see for myself the last but not least surprise. He finally covered the items. I saw the bold inscription in italics (congratulations my bride. From Dede to Ma-uuda). These people kept surprising me. My eyes were filled with tears. I wanted something nice to surprise her but I least expected all these. I went on my knees and showed my appreciation. My eyes couldn't hold my tears anymore. God bless them. The man helped me to my feet and said, "I got you something nice from my madam. She told me you got some other things which you were going to present tomorrow. I will advise you don't package those things.
Since you bought a luxury handbag and watches, we got for you a *Daniel wellington* poly bag. Just put the items in and present them. Now, I'm done so I will take my leave", he said and turned to walk away. I ran to him and showed him my appreciation for the last time. Auntie Dela also got up from the chair. I'm sure she was leaving. She said "Dede, we are done. Hope you love the things. We really enjoyed doing business with you. You can come around anytime you want to get something for yourself. I will leave with him to my friend's place then drop him at the shop." I was just short of words. I hugged her so tightly and blessed her. I requested for her number so that I could reach her. I just didn't have enough words to show my appreciation. I'm sure calling her often will perform the magic. I escorted them to the car to make sure they had left, then came back to my room.
I stood there to watch the things. They were really nice to present as gifts. I checked the clock and time wasn't far spent. It was exactly 12:26pm. I now realised I was hungry. I opened my fridge, got some rice and stew, microwaved it and enjoyed. I brought out the items for the wedding, placed them neatly in my bag with the poly bag, collected the dresses from the bed to the chair, then jumped unto the bed. It was time to rest without any disturbance. I picked my phone at placed it on silent mode. All calls could wait. I had to enjoy this sleep fully since I would be having a busy time from 6:00pm till God knows when.

EPISODE 15
I had to enjoy this sleep fully since I would be having a busy time from 6:00pm till God knows when.
I'm not sure any of Ma-uuda's friends will have a sound sleep from tonight until the ceremony is finally over. Though I wanted to sleep, I also wanted to be sure I was the first to finish with my preparation. I picked my phone and went online. I had only one mission, that was, to chat my close friends (Ma-uuda's friends) and no one else. All other messages could wait, because none of them could be more important than the programme ahead. Mariama, Jocelyn and Patience were online, except for Naa who was last seen barely 3 minutes ago. Since Mariama was online, I took the opportunity to greet them all in the group. They all responded on time. I didn't want to tell them I had bought my things. I rather asked them how far the preparation was going and these were their responses:
Mariama: As for me, I'm even tired. I've been roaming about without getting anything. I only had the short skirt and top. I will pick something from home and present it to her. After all, they are rich.
Jocelyn: I'm still in town. I've got some few stuffs with me and I hope she will like them. I'm going to get something to present to her tomorrow, then go get the dress. Time is far spent and I need to rest.
Patience: I just wish you guys were around me to see the way I'm sweating here. The sun is very high with people moving up and down. The odour on their bodies alone...OMG. I just talked to Naa and she said she's almost done so she would go and see those who are preparing the food. It's nothing big so you guys should relax and get there by 6:45pm.
I told them I'm also in town and almost done, but kind of tired. We all laughed if off and I went offline. Mariama's response still baffled me. She got nothing apart from the short skirt? Why won't it be the short skirt? All she wanted to do was to flaunt her chopping sticks in front of us. I'm sure she's forgotten it's a night for ladies and no man was coming around. Well, that was her own beef to chew.
I dropped the phone, went to check if my door was well locked and came back to my bed. I turned and saw the light of my phone on. It was a call from Naa. I'm just hoping there was no issue.
Naa: Charlie, where are you? I just finished with the buying of my things but want to head to the place where they are preparing the food. If you are home, can I pass by and put my things there and pick them later?
I didn't know what to do and I didn't want to turn her down. I got a plan very fast.
Me: I'm not home but you can take it there and place it right in front of my room. I will soon be there. I'm actually on my way home.
I told her that and hanged up. I didn't want her to see the things I had bought. They were meant to be a surprise. Yes, surprise. I took my phone and called her again:
Me: are you sure you will be comfortable bringing the things over since it's a surprise?
Naa: yea...you just reminded me of that. Thanks yeah. Will take them home directly and know what to do. Thanks a lot.
Me: Come on, what are friends for?
...I hanged up.
I can at least sleep now.

EPISODE 16
I can at least sleep now.
I slept like a baby and woke up around 5:53pm. I didn't have enough time to waste. I had to wash down, get something to eat and think of how to get the things to Ma-uuda's end.
I got up from the bed and went straight to the bathroom. Getting a cold shower as at that time relieved me of much stress. I sometimes wasted much time, not because I had to, but because I was enjoying the water. I tried so hard not to waste time at the bathroom this time around. I had something important to attend to. I wrapped myself with my big towel and rushed to the room after I was done bathing. I locked the door, took the towel off and smeared pomade on my skin. I couldn't go a day without pomade, though it was late. I reached for my undergarments, put them on and sat to think of what to eat.
I needed to take something light since food would be available at the program. I didn't want to go there on empty stomach, maybe, we might also delay in eating due to the celebration. I sat down endlessly without knowing what to eat. Maybe it was God's own way of telling me not to take in anything else my abdomen would become big. I needed to look good in that dress. Now I had to think of how to get my things to the place. I looked at the time, it was catching up with me. I dressed up, applied my light make up, picked my handbag and went to the roadside to get a cab for the things. We sped off to the location as I directed him.
Driver: I know the place very well. Is it not the house of the wealthy man? I mean the man whose daughter is getting married tomorrow?
(I wanted to be sure he knew what he was talking about?)
Driver: I just dropped one lady there. She also went along with a box. She said they are having something like "ladies night" or whatsoever. She gave her name as Patience.
Me: oo okay...that's right. That's exactly where I'm going so hurry up please. It seems I'm late.
I checked my wrist watch and it was 6:38pm. We were not far from the place. I relaxed comfortably at the back seat till we got there. I was thinking of how to hide my things without anyone seeing it before the presentation.
The driver helped me to put the things down and I paid him off. There were soo many cars parked on the compound. I thought it was supposed to be a small get together. Well, that was none of my business. One guy ran to me and asked, "good evening madam. Your name please?" I mentioned my name and he said, "you must be here because of Madam Ma-uuda. Please take your key to your room. If you have anything, our boys will come around to help you to put it there so that as and when time is ready for your presentations, you go get them."
Wooow...that was a well planned event. I asked him to get me the boys because I had something to put in the room. He directed me as the boys also carried the carton.
I could read from all indications that they were suffering because it was heavy. I thanked them when we got to the room and asked where the rest were. I joined them at the hall to have some chit chat. The celebration had not yet started. I looked around but Ma-uuda was nowhere to be found. I guess she was preparing. She was supposed to be the last person to show up since it was her day and we would lead her to the table of "honour".

EPISODE 17
She was supposed to be the last person to show up since it was her day and we would lead her to the table of "honour".
We heard some noise and laughter coming from another room. Those were male voices. I enquired to know who those people could be, because we were not expecting any male around. This was a "girls girls" program. They all seemed to be lost too so Jocelyn called one of the servants of the house to make the necessary enquiries.
"That is the husband to be and his friends. They are also having bachelor's night", she replied. In this same house? How possible could that be? How can we have bridal shower and bachelor's night in one apartment? "Madam please,it was the decision of my boss. He didn't want them to spend much money by going to get any place so he decided they have it here but in a different apartment. They have been ordered not to come around where you are having yours so please it's not a problem. Everything is under control please", she added. "It better be because this is not done anywhere. We don't want any interference while having this program", Naa jumped in.
At least, I had someone who supported me. She excused herself and left. It was 5 minutes past the designated time and Ma-uuda hadn't showed up yet. We hoped everything was alright. Naa suggested we go check if the table was set and everything was at it's right place. The sound of the music was cool for the night and everything was perfect. We got back and met Ma-uuda descending the staircase. She was looking all beautiful. "Here comes the bride! Here comes the bride!", we all sang as if it had been planned. We rushed to help her descend the staircase. From nowhere, a female photographer showed up and started taking pictures. I was told that was Jocelyn's younger sister. We helped her to the table of "honour".
It was all merry as we had our wonderful night with her. We talked naughty and laughed. Naa served us with drinks and fried chicken after popping assorted champagnes. Next thing we will be doing is the presentation of our gifts. We all got up from our seats and had two servants each going to help us with our things, depending on the what you got.
We had Ma-uuda's eyes covered with a small linen to prevent her from seeing the things before they were handed over to her. I was the first to come out with my things. Thank God! I didn't want anyone to see it. I placed it by me on the floor and sat comfortably on my chair. I waited till they all came and untied Ma-uuda's eye. We again popped some champainges to the presentation of the gifts. It was done according to how we were seated, meaning I would be the last to present mine.

Thank God! EPISODE 18
Meaning I will be the ladt to present mine.
Each and everyone presented her gift. She opened it in our presence and showed her appreciation once she received it. It got to Mariama's turn. It was obvious she had nothing good to offer. She sat uncomfortably in her chair and said, "I forgot my gift in a car. I was so tired that I slept off in the cab till we got here. I didn't even realise it till the driver himself woke me up. I will make it up to you next time." We all knew she was putting up a lie so there was no time to question her. We all looked at each other's face and giggled. After all, she had already said it in the group, so what was there to worry about? It was only hurting for us to see her do that. Ma-uuda has been a sister to all of us and so she deserved an iota of kindness.
Mariama's attitude was one no one could give explanation to. She's been like this way back in school. I didn't know if it was sheer jealously or withcraft. Naa presented her gift. It was well wrapped. It was big so we were all eager to see what she had in there. Eyes were widely opened as we all stretched our necks. Mauuda took her time to take the wrapper off. It was a blue fluffy teddy bear. Ma-uuda placed it on her chest and smiled. I could see she loved teddy bears that much. It took me to our days back in school when she would always place teddy bears on her bed for decoration. I remembered when she once called a junior and offered her huge amount of money in exchange of her teddy bear. She loved and cherished things one could least expect.
It finally got to my turn. I got up and asked Naa to help me lift mine. "Eeeiii, ad3n? 3y3 funu anaa?", Naa asked. We couldn't help but laugh. That was one of the characteristics of her. She would always find reasons to make you laugh. We lifted it and presented it to her. All these while, the photographer was taking shots.
"Seriously?", that was Ma-uuda's first remark. "Come around, all of you come. Naa, didn't you see this? Look at it..."congratulations my bride". How was it done? O my goodness! The inscription alone is catchy. Thank you". They were all happy, except for Mariama who pretended not to care about whatever was going on. Now they were all eager to know the contents of the carton.
Ma-uuda opened it carefully, making sure not to spoil the inscription. The first thing she saw was the photo collage with memories. She picked it and went through it. "This is marvelous!", Patience exclaimed. I felt very proud. There were more surprises to come. She gently put the photo collage down and picked one of the plates. She didn't realise she had her name written beneath them until the photographer told her to hold it well for her to capture the name.
She turned it and realised she had her name written beneath all the plates. She couldn't hide her joy as she jumped to hug me. It was my heart desire to see her in such mood.
"Hei, Ma-uuda, there's one more thing in there. Look at it. Personalized set of silver cutlery with wooden handles", Patience said. I'm sure Ma-uuda didn't realize it until she was told. "Really? I thought that was all. Awww my sweet bae, how can I thank you? I'm just short of words. Look at it. My name is on everything, even the carton. God bless you guys. You have really made this day a very special one for me. I just wish this was the grand celebration", Ma-uuda said.
We all laughed and sat down as she she called the servants to come and pick the things away.

EPISODE 19
We all laughed and sat down as she called the servants to come and pick the things away.
There were more to eat and drink. The food ranged from banku with shito and tilapia to plain rice with tomato sauce and chicken. The chicken were too big to be enjoyed by an individual but they insisted we left nothing in there, which meant we would have to package them home, because there was no one to enjoy them. I was happy within because I couldn't prepare any food for the week and I'm not sure I will be able to do that. As we ate, Mariama broke the courtesy on table manners.
Mariama: I know we eating but we can't keep quiet like this. We need to know something about the lucky man who is going to grind our lady in bed tomorrow by this time. I hope I'm not being naughty ooo. It's getting late and we won't have much time to discuss this.
We all laughed and supported her. "Yes! yes!! yes!!! Tell us something. You have left us in the dark for long.
Ma-uuda looked at our faces with surprise and said, "you guys knew all these while that he wasn't around. I would have introduced him to you. Anyway, he's the same guy I used to tell you guys about when we were in school. He's currently in there but you know this is "ladies affair" so he can't come here. He's also having his in there with his guys so relax. I will introduce you guys to him. He will recognize you all because he's been seeing your pictures and I've been telling him about you guys always. He's one lovely guy I wouldn't exchange for even 10000 karat of gold. He's so down to earth. I mean what else would a lady want in a man that he can't afford to give, be it money, love, honesty, humility? Name it. He's one of a kind."
Mariama quickly cleared her throat and chipped in, "Mmmmmm...we can't wait to see this angel of God. As for me, I don't trust men one bit. Even if you give me thousand reasons to love, I will give ten thousand reasons why I should cheat. Men are cunning and deceitful. I saw my father do that to my mum right from infancy till we lost her. He didn't end it there, he got married to two women and still. What at all do men want in life? They keep jumping from one manhole to the other...
"Just like ladies jumping from one church to the other" (Jocelyn's sister said)
Hahaha...this girl was really funny. Indeed, guys are cunning, but not all of them. I'm sure my Nana Yaw Acheampong would have been the best husband ever if he was to be alive.
Before I could control myself, tears dropped them my cheeks. It was obvious I was crying because they were talking of matters of the heart.
Naa: we are sorry dear friend. I think we need to stop discussing this issue because Thessy here has really suffered in the hands of men. First, it was the death of her loved one, then the incidence of rape and the loss of her baby. She's such a strong girl to even have the heart to sit here and dine with us today.
Me: No no, come on girls. We can't stop being ourselves just because nature has robbed me. Let's go on. I only believe the hottest love has the coldest hands.
Jocelyn: I think I share in what Thessy is saying. It isn't that some of us don't take delight in getting close to guys, but the reality is love is hard to find, hard to keep and hard to forget. You give your heart to someone and the person trumps over it like trash. What happened to my Cyrus? After all the toil, he still went about chasing girls. I had to quit and live a single life, hoping to get someone who will come and seek my hand in marriage.
Mariama: wait o, so you mean Cyrus dumped you and you never said a freaky thing? Heeeeer, mafia! Fa no hy3 mensa. I will deal with that guy till he coughs his last drop of blood out. You see why I don't want to have any genuine thing to do with guys?
Ma-uuda: Mari, if you should consider all these things, you will never see the good in any man. You might rather end up contracting one deadly sexually transmitted infection, and what good will that do to you? It's hurting though but all you need is to put yourself together, build up yourself, and move on.
Naa: I'm sure the heart was meant to be broken, but not by a creature who has got penis and moves about with two legs. The worst of it all is that those guys are broke ass guys who pretend to have something in their homes. There's this thing that pierces my heart each time I'm alone. Each time I remember it, I feel like cursing myself.
Once in school, I came home to pick some few items. I came to meet Kwabena Boateng on my sister. He was forcing his way with her. Not that I'm too strong to keep it to myself after quiting with him secretly, but I realised there was no need to cry over a man. A broken heart really bleeds tears, but it can be mended if you willing to. For me, I'm out until God descends today.

EPISODE 20
For me I'm out until God descends today.
I couldn't believe my ears. So Kwabena Boateng was that wicked? How could he do that? Whatever be the case, I salute Naa. She dealt with it in a more matured way. She never told anyone, and whenever she came across him, she would greet him as if they still had something to do. A lady with a brave heart. It didn't change her mood or attitude towards anyone. Or was it that she was always expecting it to happen? I couldn't keep those questions to myself anymore so I asked, "how did you manage to get over it? Were you suspecting some foul play in his actions?"
Naa: my dear, I wasn't suspecting anything but I realised my education was more important than him, and I had nothing to lose if I let him go. Instead of saying, "I have trust issues, I'm damaged, I'm brokenhearted, just say I'm healing, I'm rediscovering myself, I'm starting all over."
That is what I've been living by all this while. Till today, he calls me to apologise, but none of his words entice me.
"Perfect! Never allow someone to be your priority while allowing yourself to be their option. God himself won't forgive you and I'm not sure the devil will also grant you a ghetto in his apartment. Guys are just different versions of the devil...mtcheeew. I don't care but truth be told, I hate even my father because I've seen him countless times giving money out to young ladies while he told me he had nothing in his wallet", Jocelyn's sister angrily said. I'm sure we all had our own problems.
Patience was quiet all these while. I'm not sure she had something to say, because I had never seen her with any guy since I got to know her. We all turned to look at her. "Virgin Pat, we are not expecting anything from you apart from advice. What have you been living by? Perhaps your own will help us so that we don't fall into their traps", Jocelyn said.
"Even if we should fall into their traps, we would rather trap them and not the other way round", Mariama said.
Patience: hmmmm, I'm just short of words. I don't know where to start from and where to end.
(She brought out her phone and showed us pictures of one beautiful girl and another of one old man)
She brought out her handkerchief and continued to talk.
"At the age of 16, I left my father's place to stay with my auntie at Twifo Praso. She had this male friend who used to visit her on many occasions. The man was well to do. He was the CEO of "my brothers and sons limited." This man even came around when he knew very well that my auntie was not around. During one of his univited visits, I was at the bathroom washing down. I told him my auntie wasn't around when he knocked and asked of her. I thought he had gone when he slammed the door. Little did I know that he was coming to the bathroom. He grabbed me by my hair, put me on the floor and had sex with me. My plea didn't get to his ears.

Little did I know that he was coming to the bathroom. He grabbed me by my hair, put me on the floor and had sex with me. My plea didn't get to his ears.

EPISODE 21
My plea didn't get to his ears.
I cried my heart out the whole day. There was no phone to reach my auntie. Because he knew what he had done could cause him lot of troubles, he called my auntie and leveled allegations against me. My auntie came back in the night very angry. She started barking at the main entrance even before she got home. I was soo scared that I went to coil myself behind the television. She turned on the light and saw me. My sisters, that is the end of my story. She beat me up mercilessly without asking me a word. I cried the whole night but there was no one to help.
She could have at least given me a second to say something. Until that night, I never knew my auntie could be that wicked. I had no option than to ran away from home that night. I had some small amount of money on me. I left to my parents without my luggage.
It was dangerous though but I had to save my life. I was fortunate enough to have joined a vehicle of which I knew the driver and some few passengers. They were shocked to have seen the marks on me. I didn't have the strength to even explain anything to them.
(Mauuda had to cut in because her story, though had not yet ended, was pathetic)
Mauuda: Your story is so touching. You have really gone through hell, but your body has been able to withstand the hot furnace.
(I saw something I've never seen in my life before. Mariama was shedding tears. This caught everyone's attention. It really meant Pat's story could change one's life from one to eighty eight).
Pat continued with her story.
"I got home very early to meet my mum doing her usual thing. She was sweeping the compound. She was surprised to see me in the company of two women from our village. She ran to meet us and asked if everything was alright. They lady told her I joined the same vehicle they joined last night but from all indications, there was something at stake.
She saw the marks on my body and shouted. She pulled me closer and called my dad. The women sought permission and left. My father couldn't control his anger when I told him all that happened. He called my auntie but she refused to pick. To cut the long story short, the man lost his two sons in a car accident. He later came in the company of my auntie to apologize. I just thanked God the truth lied at the bottom of the decanter. I had given birth as at that time to this lovely girl who is currently at the boarding house.
For my auntie, she's never been able to get closer to my family, and the man is paralysed. He's been sending people to come over to apologize. I haven't and wouldn't forgive him because, he didn't think of it when he broke my heart."
O my goodness, damn it! When I think of some people's relationship and life experiences, what comes to mind is the abusive relationship between teeth and the chewing of gum. That shit ain't easy dear.

EPISODE 22
That shit ain't easy dear.
We continued to enjoy our meal and tried so hard not to ruin the night with our pathetic stories. I began feeling uneasy. I sought for permission and excused myself. I had to visit the washroom. I was right on time, if not I would have disgraced myself. I washed my hands and rushed out. While walking down the hall way, the light at that place went off. The whole place became dark. I was scared because I couldn't find my way out. I remembered I had my phone in hand, it would serve as torchlight for me. Before I could turn on the torch, someone held my waist from behind. Who could that be? I struggled with the fellow but he was too strong to lose this thug of war. We continued to struggle as he pushed me to a nearby room with my mouth covered.
I still didn't know who the person was. He turned on the light in the room, still with my mouth covered.
Huh? Who was I seeing? I saw two people fucking seriously with the lady enjoying every bit of it. The person who was struggling with me didn't realise there were people there because he was ready to scatter me at that hour. I begged him to let me go but he was all hard. The guy jumped off the lady as soon as the light was turned on. What! That was Mariama. Which time did she come here and why would she do a thing like this in someone's apartment? Couldn't she wait till the program was finally over? I recognized the guy. He was the same person Mariama used for her dp some time ago. That same guy she was kissing. She quickly got up and wrapped the bedsheet around her body. What was there to be shy of? The man left me as soon as he saw what was going on.
Man: Quaku Adepa Nyamekye! What? You? You were supposed to be having your bachelor's night but look at you. You are here having an affair with someone who happens to be your wife to be's friend.
(Huh? So that was Ma-uuda's husband to be? But how could Mariama do that?....and, and, and the man too, was Mauuda's father? O my God! What tragedy! Thank God they both saw us struggle, otherwise Mariama would have concluded)
The guy knelt down to beg as Mariama sat shamefully on the bed with the bedsheet around her. She was really a disgrace to friendship. They all begged me not to disclose what had just happened to Ma-uuda. To think that I would do such thing was very cheap. I had important things doing than to go about separating families and friends. I excused myself and went to join my friends at the table of "honour".
Few minutes after, Mariama joined us. I had to make her a little bit nervous so I asked, "where have you been all this while? I was searching for you." "I...I...I went to...."
"Ohoo! I..I...I, what is it? I'm sure you also went to the washroom. Thank God you haven't left us today because considering the time, I thought you were long gone. And about your cousin, won't he be lonely? Sure he's yearning for your company by now", I added. "Yea guys, it's late. Thank you all for the gifts. I really appreciate them. I need to catch some sleep and get enough strength for tomorrow's program. Hope to see you all here", Ma-uuda said and got up. She hugged us all and asked the drivers to help us to our respective homes. I still didn't believe what my eyes saw. It was just like a perfect dream.
Thank God this driver knew my home, otherwise we would have gone far without getting to our destination. He tapped me to get down when we got to my place. I slowly got down, still lost in thoughts, and went to my room. I had to try and forget it, lest the force drives me to blow the secret out. I undressed, washed down, came back to say a word of prayer and then slept. Mariama kept calling me but I assured her I had nothing to blow out, that was if only she admitted what she did was evil and was willing never to engage in such act again. It was evil! If she wasn't ready to hook up, then she should sit back and watch her life story unravel in a mirror. I told her and hanged up.

EPISODE 23
I told her and hanged up.
I woke up a bit late the next morning as compared to my usual time of waking up. I was tired. I still had heavy eyes. I looked at the time and it was 6:12am. I picked the poly bag that was given to me by Auntie Dela's worker. I admired it and put it on the bed, got up and went to pick the rest of the things. I packaged them nicely into the poly bag. They were a luxury handbag, silver bracelet, personalised face towel and one wrist watch. I put the poly bag gently in the chair, then went to check if the dress I would be using was intact. I then went to check on my shoe, and most importantly, my handbag. I took it and put some money and petty petty things in it. Those things never escaped a lady's handbag. You know what I mean right?
I came back to my bed, then remembered I brought some food home from Ma-uuda's end. I quickly reached for my bag to inspect it. Fortunate enough, they hadn't gone bad. I put them in the fridge and left some small one which I would make justice to before leaving. I checked the time and it wasn't even 7:00am. I coiled myself back into my cloth and slept. After all, I had prepared good enough to avoid getting there late. I had an sms on my phone. I picked my phone to read it. It was from Mariama. I replied her and told her to be herself. She needed to turn up at the programme. I wasn't going to do anything so she should stop calling or sending me messages. She was still a friend. One thing caught my attention while replying the message. It seems I was too fast that I overlooked it. It read, "the man you were struggling with yesterday was looking for you to apologize to you. He said I should do that on his behalf since you were nowhere to be seen and I happen to be your friend. That was Ma-uuda's father so please don't do anything to disgrace him. He will make it up to you once the program is over. He is willing to pay you any amount of money. All you need to do is to keep it away from Ma-uuda and any other person."
I put the phone down and turned to sleep. Ma-uuda's father was indeed the devil himself. For him to have tried having sex with me, and even seeing his daughtet's husband to be in such act without complaining, then I think there was more to it.
I had even forgotten about that whole issue and there she was again trying to spoil my mood. Mine was to get closer to God and know Him more. Enough of this Mariama girl and Ma-uuda's father. I positioned myself well and slept. The weather was so calm that I slept soundly and peacefully. Had it not been the cry of one of the tenant's baby, I would have slept till God knows when.
I rushed to the bathroom without checking the time. There was no need to do so because I would still go and take my bath, whether or not I check my time. I didn't waste much time there at all because I washed down the previous night and slept without going anywhere. Right from the bathroom, I put the food on fire to heat it small while I dressed up. I did all the necessary things I was supposed to do without wearing my attire and make up. It was now time for me to enjoy the meal without any courtesy. Are you aware you don't really get the amazing taste of your meal if you decide to use this thing called "table manners?" Just try using your hands in your own comfortable way. You will discover the amazing taste you have never thought of getting. I sat on the floor, spread my legs wide and put the food there. I enjoyed the meal with some worship songs on "adom fm." It didn't take me too long to finish the meal because I was enjoying it in the comfort of my home. I sat lazily on the floor and wished someone could come and help me wash my hands, but who was there to do so? Was it my late boyfriend or who?
I sat down for some few minutes and got up to wash my hands. As for the plates, I would only do justice to it on my return. I now picked my phone to check the time. There were eight missed calls on it. Some from my mum, Mariama and Naa. I chose to call Naa after realising I still had enough time. As for my mum, we could talk on my return, and Mariama, it was obvious she couldn't sleep.
Me: obaa, sup? I just saw your missed calls ooo. Hope everything is alright.
Naa: yea...was only calling to tell you we all need to be there by 9:30. Not exactly that though. You know it's going to be done in the house. And please you can keep some one or two house attires in your bag so that as and when we are needed, we change to help at the kitchen ok? I hope it won't be a problem. I've told the others.
Me: o come on...which problem? I will always be there when I'm needed. Just keep your calm okay. Bye.
Which means I still had enough time. I'm only scared of one thing. Time may go against me if I slept. I picked my phone and set a 45 minutes interval alarm. I remembered I had to get my house attire and flip flop as suggested by Naa. I did that and came back to sleep again. I didn't want to spare any least chance because I hadn't gotten enough rest for some time.
