How far, how long, how wide can it stretch to exhibit it's commanding prowess over the storms of the day. Or shall it succumb to the harsh efforts of mother nature to subdue and collect this great water in a *lake*.

EPISODE 1

The old woman ordered the guards to go and fetch the Prince,  but Nana's wife was fast enough to have taken the lead. She went for her son and run away without any luggage. She left behind all her luggage. She did not want to lose her child because of her husband's destiny. He had to face his own problem. She didn't know where she was going, but she had to leave. She had to save her child. The guards ran after her, but her legs were quick enough to carry her away.
She walked at length till she could continue no more. She finally had to settle by the roadside to breastfeed her baby. They were both hungry. She had nothing to feed on after breastfeeding her baby.

She sat for a while as the prince snored comfortably in her weary arms. She tried so hard not to sleep because she was scared the guards might still come after her. She finally dozed off. She couldn't control her eyes.
"Hahaha, you are very funny. So you undertook this tireless journey just to come and sleep here? Anyway, patiently give us the child and continue with your journey", a voice said. She got scared. She was surrounded by the guards. There was no way she could escape.

She knelt down and pleaded with them to spare their lives. "Madam, we aren't killing any of you. Just give us the little boy and go in peace, else you will have yourself to blame", another guard said. At the mention of madam, the chief's wife got furious. She couldn't control herself. Her blood became hotter than previously and said, "You have no regards for me. You stand there and call me 'madam'? Don't you know I am your chief's wife? Have you lost it?
"Hold it! So you demand respect. I mean do you call for respect? The very moment you decided to leave our chief to his fate, you ceased to earn any respect from any of us", one of the guards replied her.

She tried to struggle with them over the prince. When the guards realised she was becoming a hard nut to crack, they decided to give her what she rightfully deserved. They shot her. "Agyeiii, mewuooo!", she screamed. She opened her eyes and realised it was a dream. She examined her son to be sure he was alive. She didn't want to lose her son for anything. She hurriedly put her baby at her back and continued her walk. She didn't want to spend any more time there. Who knows? The guards might still be after her. She used a bush route when she got to a crossroad.

EPISODE 2

She used a bush route when she got to a crossroad. "Madam, please help me. Please help me with my child. Some people are after us. They want to take my child away from me", she cried out as she approached a cottage. In front of a small kitchen sat a woman. The woman became disturbed as she hurriedly hid her in her room. She took the child away from her and placed him in a basket. "Stay here. You are safe here. I will make sure no one hurts you", she said and went out of the room.

She went to continue with what she was doing earlier expecting the people who were after the chief's wife to come around. She intentionally sat outside for long.
After waiting tirelessly, she called the chief's wife out of hiding. She wanted to know  who was after her and why. The woman went to pick the baby for her and they both went outside. She made sure the place was safe before they went out.
"Maame, have a seat. Feel comfortable. I will get you some food. I know you must be hungry", the woman said and went to her kitchen to get her something to eat.

They were both quiet throughout as Nana's wife ate. She looked scared. She kept turning around to see if the people were really after her. She hardly enjoyed the food as she was supposed to.
"Agoo!!! Is anybody here?"the voice shouted. It was a male voice. Nana's wife went into hiding. She feared they would know she was around. She went on her knees at her hiding place and prayed to God to save her and her baby from the snares of the wicked.

Talking of her baby, she forgot and left him with the woman. Was she to go for him? She actually came into hiding because of her son so why would she hide and leave her son out there? She finally decided to stay calm after battling with her mind. The old woman put the baby at her back and went to the door to attend to the person who was knocking.
Woman: yes? How may I help you?
Stranger: good day. Please I'm after one woman by name Akosua Kentimpo. She has a male baby. I was told she's here.
Woman: sorry it's a wrong address. I'm the only one who lives here and the baby is mine. Try the next house.

The woman said and left the stranger. She was lost in thoughts as she wondered what this woman had done. She turned to see if the stranger was still there but he had left.

She turned to see if the stranger was still there but he had left. She went to the room and called Nana's wife  out of hiding. She told her the stranger had left.
"Tell me, what is this thing you have done that will make people come after you even in broad day light? This stranger also came asking of you, but I told him no one of that sort lived here. Talk to me. I'm a woman just like you", she enquired while taking the baby off her back.
Nana's wife sat down and kept mute for a while and finally decided to talk.

She told the woman about her predicament. She felt sorry for her.
"...so tell me your name", the woman asked. "I am Abena Asantewaa", she replied. "Abena Asantewaa? So you mean you are not Akosua Kentimpo? Oow! The person who came here a while ago said he was looking for one Akosua Kentimpo. I thought you were the one because he said the person had a male child. Anyway, don't worry. I told him there's no one like that living here, and as for those who were chasing you, I'm not sure they are still after you. Just enjoy your food while I get you a pot of water to wash down while I prepare a place for you to sleep ", the woman said and left.

EPISODE 4

Just enjoy your food while I get you a pot of water to wash down while I prepare a place for you to sleep ", the woman said and left. Though Nana's wife was hungry, she couldn't enjoy the food. She was scared the guards might come around. Talking of the guards, she had to put up a lie that they were still after her, so that the woman would give her a place to lay her head. She wished she could continue her journey but she knew no where and no one, so she had to stay with the woman till she felt everything was over.

Back in the village, the guards had returned after their unfruitful search. They had to save their chief! They had to save their land and people, else their predicament would never end. They rushed to where the people had gathered with the chief and the old woman. The chief was sitting on the floor and weeping uncontrollably.
He anticipated his problems would soon be over once they got hold of his wife and baby.
He jumped off the floor when he saw the guards. He  was expecting to see his son, not only the chief, but the entire people of the community. They had suffered because of someone's destiny, and there was no way they could live a day with it.
As the guards got closer to the gathering, the old woman shouted, "it's rather unfortunate you could not get hold of him. That is it! You will never get hold of him. Your land is doomed forever! As for your chief, he remains your chief until death lays it's hands on him."

She turned back into a snake right after talking without waiting for anyone to say a word. They all ran back but before they realised, it had vanished.
They stood there in awe for few seconds and turned to go to their various homes. Though they shared in the agony of the chief, they couldn't keep the insults to themselves. They rained insults on him while they departed to their homes. They left the chief in his miserable state. No one helped him to his room except for Tutu who had always been his humble servant. He helped him to his room and prepared his bed for him.

There was no one to attend to the chief so Tutu had to stay back and give him all the necessary care and attention. Even the old women at the palace refused to serve him his meal. Tutu had to do everything for the chief.
The guards and old women left the palace one after the other. They were all scared they would die mysteriously or fall sick. No one was willing to give up his or her life because of someone's foolishness.
This went on for quite a long time.

Odeneho Kwadwo Sintim fell sick. Loneliness was killing him. Apart from Tutu, there was no other human being he was seeing. The best he could do was to open his windows  and see the bright new day. Those who passed by did not bother to greet him. All they did was to make mockery of him and walk on.
Even when he decided to call one and ask of his or her health, the fellow would pretend he or she didn't hear him, and then rain insults on him.
He couldn't stand it anymore. He decided to stay in his room and cry his heart out. He always soaked his pillow with his tears. It took Tutu to comfort and calm him down.

EPISODE 5

It took Tutu to comfort and calm him down.
It's been seventeen years down the lane since Nana's wife ran away with his son. They were still squatting with the old woman. The Prince, Quaku Adepa Nyamekye saw the old woman to be his grandmother. His mother never told him about the father's whereabouts. All she told him was the name of his father. She didnt add the title to it. She wanted to save his son from any untimely death. Due to this, she never left her son to be alone. She made sure she was always by his side.

She inculcated in him the spirit of discipline and God-fearing with the help of the old woman. They attended service with the old woman. Quaku Adepa Nyamekye grew up in the Lord and became very obedient. Whoever came across him liked him because of his serviceability. He was always found with his grandmother on the farm, or assisting people to get something for his family. He was different among his peers and this made people love him the more. One sunny afternoon when Maame Abena Asantewaa and the old woman were having a nap, Quaku Adepa Nyamekye decided to go game hunting.

They had nothing home so he decided to surprise them. He went deep into the bush, though he didn't know where he was heading, he believed he would get a big game. The whole place was quiet. All he heard was the chirping sounds of birds. Though he was scared, he still went on. Moving further, he heard voices. That still didn't move him to go back home. He was bent on getting a game for his family. The voices became louder and clearer as he drew closer. At this instance, he got scared. He wanted to go back to the house, but his curiosity drove him to know what was really happening.

He pressed on till the voices became very very clear. He saw many people who had gathered around something. Some were with machetes as they chanted. He stood at a distance to watch what was going on. He wanted to go there but what if they killed him? He hid behind a big tree and made sure nobody saw him. He couldn't hide anymore when he heard them say, "it's unfortunate today is your last day. Just say your last prayer." He ran to where they had gathered to stop them from committing murder.
"...and who are you to stop us young man? Do you know what he has done?", one of them asked. "I don't know but I'm not sure he deserves to die. Our sins have been paid for by the savior Jesus Christ. Now, can someone please tell me what he has done?", Quaku Adepa replied.

EPISODE 6

"I don't know but I'm not sure he deserves to die. Our sins have been paid for by the savior Jesus Christ. Now, can someone please tell me what he has done?", Quaku Adepa replied. "Savior Jesus Christ? Who is He and who did He pay it to?" they asked looking more confused. They didn't know about the savior.
Did it mean some were still in the dark? Quaku Adepa Nyamekye was surprised to hear that from them. Was there any other person worthy of worship apart from God? He had grown to know that only God was worthy of worship. He didn't know of traditional believers or whatsoever.

"Anyway, I'm sorry but permit me to ask this, are you Christians? I mean do you go to church to pray to God?", Quaku Adepa asked.
"Church? Noooooo. We don't believe in their leader. We hear He is slow to anger and as humans, we want quick responses since some are wicked, just like our chief here", one replied.
"What! Your chief? And you want to kill him? What abomination has he committed?" Quaku Adepa wanted to know.

"Hei young man! You have asked too many questions. What is your problem? Huh? Or do you want to die with him? Leave us to execute our plan. Come on, go!", an angry man shouted. "Master, please I'm sorry for interfering and asking too many questions, but please answer me", Quaku replied.

All this while, the chief, Odeneho Kwadwo Sintim was kneeling down awaiting death to embrace him. He looked very thin.
"Anyway, this man here is our chief. Since he ascended the throne, human beings, as well as animals have been dying. Strange sicknesses have befallen our people. We were told the only end to our problems was for him to sacrifice his newborn baby. His wife, upon hearing that, ran away with the baby. It's been many years now, we are still going through the challenge. The worst of it all, he himself has been sick for so many years without getting well. He can't move about without assistance. One of his guards has been very faithful to have stayed with him to help him, but what happened? He also died  mysteriously. Now, there is no one to help him so he defecates in the same room he sleeps. Just have a look at him, there are boils all over him. We are tired. If he continues to live, we are all going to die so it's better he dies. We are going to kill him today and end all these tragedies", one man replied Quaku Adepa.

EPISODE 7

We are going to kill him today and end all these tragedies", one man replied Quaku Adepa.
"Hmmmm! This is very bad... But what if he is healed, would you spare his life?", Quaku asked. "Hahahaha, how possible? How can he be healed? We will only spare him if he is healed and we don't also record death in our village", they replied him. "Okay, can you please grant me a favour? Give him three days? I mean us.. You can leave him here in the company of some guards so that the rest of you can return to your village. I trust that my God will do something great. If he is not healed by the third day, and you still record death or any strange incidence in your village, please kill both of us. Please.... " Quaku pleaded.

Initially it became difficult for them to accept his offer but upon contemplation, they finally agreed. They left behind the chief in the company of ten able men. Quaku Adepa didn't bother to ask for the chief's name. He went closer to the chief and asked, "do you believe there is someone greater than the gods you serve? Do you believe you can be healed?" The chief was too weak to talk. Quaku Adepa told him not to worry. He would fast and pray on his behalf. He believed the chief's health would be restored, and probably those who were sick back home would be healed. The dried land would produce water again.

The chief didn't believe it. At this point, all he wanted was to die. Quaku isolated himself from the rest to a quiet place but not too far to trigger the rage of the already suspicious group. He prayed throughout the night to the Almighty God. He asked God not to disgrace him. He believed and trusted that He would grant him his heart desire. At daybreak, he went to check on the chief and the guards. There had been very little improvement in his condition.
He managed to get water for the chief and the guards. He assured them they would see change and hear good news from the people back home.

He went back to his hiding place to continue with his fast and prayers. All this while, his mother and grandmother were searching for him. They searched everywhere in the village, but they did not find him. Maame Abena Asantewa denied herself of any food, and had sleepless nights all these days.
It seemed Quaku Adepa had forgotten about his family. He never bothered to go back home to check on his family. What mattered most to him was for them to see the glory of God.

It was the second day of Quaku Adepa's fast, but it was more like things were changing real fast. Nana Kwadwo Sintim could move his limbs and turn about. The boils on him had vanished into thin air. That surprised everyone, including Quaku Adepa himself. He knew God would do it but not that fast. He was only putting God to  test.
He told the people not to jubilate yet. There were more miracles on the way. He had just one day left to prove to the people of Asabum that he had a God who was mightier than any other. He had the power to heal.

Though he had some 24 hours to finish up,he threw a challenge to God to perform miracle within few minutes. He prayed fervently without ceasing. He believed in the power of prayer because faith was his only anchor.

He believed in the power of prayer because faith was his only anchor. He heard a noise as he was praying. Quaku didn't bother to open his eyes. He went ahead to pray to ask for healing grace for Nana Kwadwo Sintim.
The noise became louder. It was getting closer to him. He opened his eyes and saw the chief in the company of the guards. He could walk and stand without any aid. Quaku ran to embrace the chief and gave thanks to God. "Indeed, our God is a wonderful God!", he exclaimed. They didn't want to waste any more time.

They asked that Quaku left with them to their village.
They left with much joy in their hearts. The chief couldn't but hold Quaku Adepa's hands. At some point,he wrapped his hand around his neck. He couldn't hide his joy. He wished there was something he could do to show his appreciation. He smiled as they journeyed  back home.
Halfway through the journey, they heard some great noise from afar. They couldn't tell where the noise was coming from. The people were jubilating.

The chief, his guards and Quaku Adepa wondered from where the noise was coming.
As they went ahead, they met some group of young people. The chief asked if they knew where the noise was coming from. One replied, "it's from the next village, my village I mean. One of our people who left to study in the city is back."
"Oow I see. That is good news then. Thank you very much," the chief said and left. They bypassed many villages including where the noise came from. They wished they had gotten home and shared the good news.
When they had almost reached home, they heard a loud rambling noise from their village. It seemed the people were jubilating over something.

They tried to double their steps in order to get there on time.
They met some people from their village. They were the same people who wanted to kill the chief.
They couldn't hide their joy when they saw the chief walk without any assistance. They ran to embrace him and lifted him up. "Nana, there is good news! There is good news! Where is the young man who prayed for you? Where is he? He has brought smiles back to our faces", one of the men enquired. They recognized him even before any of the people with the chief could answer them. They lifted him up and put him on their shoulders. They were grateful. They carried him shoulder high till they got to their village where everybody was happily singing and dancing.

They carried him shoulder high till they got to their village where everybody was happily singing and dancing. They put Quaku down gently.
The chief gave Adepa the chance to address the villagers.  He started by greeting them. He went ahead to talk to them about the "All-knowing God." He told them about His mighty power and greatness. He made them understand that He created the world and everything in it, including the gods they worshipped . He had the power to heal, kill, resurrect and even destroy. That was the Almighty God he was talking about.

"He's ever ready to save you if you will turn from your sins. The gods you worship have no power. My God can destroy them today if I call on Him," he went ahead to preach salvation to them.
"My son, please tell your God to destroy our gods and shrine. They are of no use to us anymore. We will serve your God," the chief said. "Yes! Yes!!, we will serve your God", the people chanted.
"Okay, if you say so. I'm going to sing and pray. All I need is your faith and support. My God will send down fire to burn all these buildings belonging to the gods, and as for the fetish priest, my God will deal with him. God alone deserves to be worshipped," Quaku said.

They all marched to the shrine as Quaku sang and prayed. As he was praying, the fetish and chief priests came from their abode to confront him.
They barely got close to him when fire from above came down to burn them and their shrines. God answered by fire. The people were astonished . Quaku Adepa went on his knees and thanked God.
The people were so happy. They danced to the song Quaku sang. When they were done, one asked, "how do we gain salvation?"

"Confess your sins to Him, and believe that He's the only savior. Flee from sin, do good, learn and follow His ways. Do not kill, do not steal. There are more, but if you pray and ask Him to direct you, your ways will always be pure," Quaku replied. "For every problem, no matter what effect it causes, is a lake. It cannot stretch to cause any harm. See yourself a "river" and do not allow the "lake" to swallow you up. You are too big for any problem to cause chaos in ur life. You have God, remember?" Quaku went ahead to say.

"Okay my son. You will not leave alone. Some of my men will go with you. I will add some things to it. Please accept them.... We don't even know your name,"Odeneho said.

"Nana, my name is Quaku Adepa Nyamekye," he replied. "Quaku what? What is the name of your mother and where do you come from?

"No no no, you mean you are the seed of who? Perhaps, I may be wrong. Is she till alive? I would love to go with you and meet her. I hope it's not a problem? ", odeneho asked.

"Ooow Nana, it's not a problem. We can leave now if you are ready," Quaku replied.
Odeneho and some men left with Quake Adepa to his village. It was a very tiresome journey.
They got to his village very tired. Quaku took them to his house. His grandmother ran to embrace him upon seeing him.
"Quaku, where have you been all this while? We have searched for you all over," his grandmother asked.
"Nana, take it easy. I came with some visitors. They came to see mum. Where is she? Has she left for the farm?" Quaku asked.

"My grandson, she's traveled to the next village. Let me welcome your people," the old woman said.
He asked them of their mission and they told her they were there to see Maame Abena Asantewa, but since she'd traveled, they would leave to return some other time.
"Return some other time? Tell me the problem my son." She said.
"Anyway, we are from Asabum. Your grandson here has helped us a lot, and as I asked for his mother's name, he mentioned a name that struck the core of my inner being. My wife had the same name. We had a son who also bore the name Quaku Adepa Nyameche. We had a problem in our village which required my son for sacrifice for the atonement of my sins. My wife ran away with our son, till today, I've not set eyes on any of them. I came with him to confirm if what I'm thinking is true."

"Hmmmm, what did you say your name is please?"the old woman asked the chief.
"I'm Odeneho Kwadwo Sintim".
This took Quaku Adepa by surprise.
"Odeneho, what you are saying may be true. The lady in question is not my child. She came here many years back and sought shelter. She told me the same story you just said. She came with a baby boy.
They lived with me here. Few days ago, her son, whom you came with, left the house without telling us. We searched for him everywhere, but couldn't find him. She thought her son was dead. She denied herself food and water. All she did was to cry. Hmmmm...Nana, if you had come yesterday, I'm sure you would have seen everything for yourself. I went in search of food. I came home to see her lifeless body", granny said with tears in her eyes.

EPISODE 11

"I came home to see her lifeless body", granny said with tears in her eyes. "Nana, what did you say? Where is my mother? You told me she'd traveled. Please tell me something,"Quaku cried out. "Quaku, she couldn't stand your absence. She thought someone had killed you. I kept encouraging her, but she would not listen to me. Stop crying," she said.
Granny turned to the chief and his people who were all sad and said, "this was how she died. She's no more in this world. This is your son, but before I can hand him over to you, you need to describe her to me."

Quaku couldn't believe his ears. Did it mean the old woman was not his grandmother? And did it mean Nkwahia was not his hometown? Hmmmm..God knows best.
"Obaapanin, that will not be a problem at all. I have with me here her picture. Take it, and let me know if that is the woman you are talking about," Nana said.
Nana took the picture and before he could say another word, Quaku shouted, "that is my mother!". "You heard him, that is his mother. This is your son Nana", the old woman said.

It didn't take Quaku long to find himself in the arms of his long lost father. He was yearning for that fatherly love. He grew up without seeing his father. They were all happy, but Quaku became sad after few seconds.
"Does it mean I'm going to leave my grandmother behind?" He asked. "No my dear son, we are leaving together okay?" The chief replied. He was very happy. Even though he couldn't see his wife, he had seen his "seed" and they would forever be together.
They all left to Asabum.

Odeneho was still happy. He couldn't hide his joy. He held Quaku's hands throughout the journey. When they got home, he asked that they prepared rooms for Quaku and the old lady. He also asked that they set a banquet for them for it was a happy day.
The people around realized how happy he was, but no one knew the reason behind that. Probably, it was because he had been healed. The people he went to Nkwahia with were also not willing to disclose it to anyone, till the chief had given them the go ahead.

The dinning table was set for them. Odeneho could not eat.
He sat and keenly watched his "seed" consume his meal.

EPISODE 12

He sat and keenly watched his "seed" consume his meal. "Dad, you aren't eating. Is everything alright?" Quaku asked him. "Aww my son, how I've longed to hear someone call me daddy. I'm very happy today, though my wife is not around. I will eat. For now, all I want to do is watch my "seed". I now believe I'm a man. A very great "river". The "lake" couldn't swallow my manhood. Do you remember what you told us this morning? "You are too big for any problem to cause chaos in your life" Odeneho said with smile.

He paused for a while and continued, finish up. Our people are waiting for us. I asked my men to summon them. They need to hear the good news and jubilate with us."
They left with the old woman after they had finished eating to meet the anxious people of Asabum.
"My people, I greet you. Today is indeed a great day. Hope you all know this young man. He was with us this morning," the chief said. "Yes, we know him. He taught us about the Savior. He brought light into our hearts," they responded. The chief nodded with a smile.

"He is our very own. I left with him and some of our men to his village after he mentioned his name, that of his mother and father. We went to meet this old woman who told us everything we needed to know. His mother died yesterday because she wasn't finding her son after a long search. The mother we are talking about is my wife, Maame Abena Asantewa. Thank God she told the old woman everything so it wasn't a problem claiming my "seed". The "seed" who saved my life and that of the entire community.
I don't know what to say. I'm very happy today," Odeneho said.

They were surprised and very happy. They now had a successor.
Odeneho continued, "from now on, give him all the respect he deserves as a prince....and one thing, we shall serve no other god apart from the God of my "seed". The savior who made us believe that no lake can ever swallow a river. I decree and declare, as the chief of this land, that we shall worship the one true God. They clapped with joyous hearts. When the chief had finished talking, they all went to Quaku Adepa Nyamekye, shook his hand and welcomed him back to his village.

EPISODE 1

Help! Help! Nana, where is our noble chief? Nana, my child is dying. Please help me, please, I don't want to lose her. She's my only child and I  might sure lose my marriage if I should lose her.
( Nana rushes out of his room to see what is happening.) It's been one incidence of death, ranging from human beings to animals for the past week. It was obvious he was getting scared. Not for his people, but his home because he had just heard the cry of his successor in his home.

What if he also lost him? He looked disturbed as he tried to calm the lady down. "Nana, please do something. Get up from your seat because I won't allow myself to be the next victim. I won't bury my daughter. She must bury me", the lady continued to lament.
Some men and women of the village angrily rushed in with palm fronds demanding to see the chief as he talked to the sorrowful woman. His guards tried to restrict them, but upon seeing their cutlasses, allowed them in.

They carried on their heads dead bodies, and in their hands, sick children with boils all over their bodies. "Nana, we came to you to tell you our problems as indigenes of your land some time ago. You told us to relax and you would seek for a remedy. We have relaxed well enough but it seems the more we relax, the more we lose our people. You have not taken any action. Is it because you have not lost any relative? Nana, now look at us. On our heads, are the bodies of our loved ones, and here, you can see for yourself, are children awaiting death in their own small way. If another person should die, we beg to say, that you may descend the throne", the angry leader said.

Odeneho Kwadwo Sintim for some seconds couldn't say a word. He finally broke the silence and said, "it isn't as if I'm playing dumb here my people. I'm trying so hard. Even Oman Komfo) has failed to say a word. I'm still trying my best so please take it easy. As for death, I pray it doesn't come knocking at your doorstep again. Please, my people, just be patient."
"Patience you said?", one woman shouted from behind. I've lost two of my children, my husband and all my animals. All I have to offer death is myself, but it rather chose my last child. Just look at her. She's stinking with boils all over. And all you can say is patience? Nana, I'm sure you didn't actually plan to say that. Say something reasonable else I dash in there for your child."

The chief realising how angry his people were, continued to beg them. He gave them the assurance that instead of waiting on the fetish priests or sending guards to go and give information, he would rather go there this time. He would find solutions to their problems. His people understood him and left. He was left alone in his compound thinking of what to do. It was obvious Oman Komfo) didn't even have a remedy, talk less of knowing the cause. He finally decided to travel around and see things for himself. Maybe, he might get a powerful Okomfo) who would help him and his people.

"Tutu, go in there and get me some money and prepare. We undertaking a journey now. Tell my wife I'm going somewhere. I will be back in few days time. Don't waste your time in explaining issues to her. Ladies were created in a way that they never understand the reality on the ground", the chief told his main guard. "And one thing, tell her to take very good care of my successor", he added. Tutu did as he was told.

EPISODE 2

"...and one thing, tell her to take good care of my successor ", he added. Tutu did as he was told.
For once, Odeneho's wife did not complain. All she did was to come out and wish her husband well. "My husband, please be safe. May the gods of our land give you answers to your questions and bring you back safely. We hope to see you very soon", she said and gave him a hug.
Nana was surprised at his wife's actions but there was no time to ask if she really meant what she was saying. They needed answers and remedies to their problems so he had to go. Tutu joined him with what he requested for and they left.

The journey wasn't an easy one as they didn't know where to start or end. All they knew was that they were in search of something. Something that would bring happiness to their people. Something that would earn him the respect he had lost. They travelled through the dark and thick forest on their quest. They finally had to stop and rest under a big tree. They were so exhausted. They didn't know it was going to be a tedious journey so they didn't take any water or food.

They thought water and food were abundant everywhere, now they were famishing. The chief couldn't continue anymore. His legs shook as he panted for breathe. He was scared he might lose his life before day break so he called Tutu by his side and said, "if I don't make it, go home and tell my people I tried my best. I really tried but the gods have spoken. And, tell my wife not to worry too much because my son will grow up to take good care of her. He might probably serve his people better than me."

"Odeneho, please don't talk like this. You know we are in the middle of a deep forest and spirits are hovering around. Please don't put my life in danger. I can't deliver this message to our people, please. Just ask the gods to give you the strength to see yet another day. I will try and move few steps ahead to check if I will get something from the gods for you. Until then, please keep your calm and stay here", Tutu replied more scared. He brought out a cocoa sac (which he used as cloth) he'd been carrying in his bag to cover the chief.

At least, that would keep him warm. He left in search of water and something edible at that ungodly hour. All he wanted to do was to save his chief, his people and himself from accusations.

EPISODE 3

All he wanted to do was to save his chief, his people and himself from accusations.
Though he was scared, he managed to find his way through. He walked a long distance but at a very slow and careful pace. The whole place was dark with strange sounds from animals and insects. There were times he would turn to a particular direction, thinking he'd seen light, but there was nobody around. In as much as he didn't want to meet anybody at that time, he still wanted to get help from somebody. He was scared he might lose the chief, considering his condition before he left him.

He finally had to go back to the chief. Who knows? His presence might even bring him life. He rushed back to where the chief was. On his way, he saw something creep on the floor. He stepped back. It was huge and had a very shiny skin. "That must be a snake!", he said to himself. He couldn't control his bladder. Though Tutu was a brave palace guard, he feared snakes. More especially those ones found in the forests because his grandmother had told him lots of scary things about them. He now admitted life was finally over for the chief and himself.

That was a perfect thing. They both had to die. Not the king dying and leaving behind Tutu to go and give answers to a thousand questions. No one would even believe him. He decided to give up by stepping on the tail of what he thought to be a snake. He knew it would angrily bite him to death should it be a snake. He stood there for a while as sweat bathed him, and finally decided to do as he had thought. He was initially scared but he went back, gathered all the courage and stepped on it.

Shockingly, the snake didn't bite him. Instead, it turned to an old wretched woman with tattered cloth and coloured teeth. Tutu jumped back. He looked more frightened than ever. He knelt down to beg the old woman as she smiled and got closer. Her fingers were very long with dirty nails. Her face was very wrinkled. She drew closer to Tutu as he continued to beg her to spare his life. "Spare your life? You want me to spare your life...I'm not sure my dear Tutu", the old woman said.

Tutu jumped back when he heard the old woman mention his name. "You wanted to die so you intentionally stepped on my tail so I could bite you. Why then do you ask me to spare your life? It will be easy this way, can't you see? All I need to do is to use my nails to create a hole in your abdomen, then you are gone for good", she continued.

All I need to do is to use my nails to create a hole in your abdomen, then you are gone for good", she continued. Tutu wanted to die but not on this note. He continued to beg the old woman to spare his life. She went closer, touched Tutu and rubbed her hands on his face. One could just imagine what Tutu was going through. She finally stopped and asked, "where is your chief?". Tutu got surprised but had to answer her. It seemed she knew everything so he had no reason to hide anything from her.

He led the old woman to the place where he had left the chief before going to search for food and water. Tutu woke the chief up several times, but he had already given up the ghost. The old woman looked at how sad Tutu was and told him to step aside. She bent down, took a tiny oval shaped  substance from her tattered cloth, and placed it in between Odeneho's lips. She pushed it gently till you could see it no more. Odeneho coughed strongly and opened his eyes. Tutu felt relieved now. He thanked the old woman and asked for her name. As for Odeneho, he didn't know what was going on. The old woman refused to answer Tutu's question, but rather told them to rest till day break and she would help them find answers to whatever they were looking for.

Answers? Then they wouldn't sleep. That was why they came so if she had the answers, why then wouldn't she provide them, but rather would want them to sleep till daybreak? What if they woke up and she wasn't around?
"My son, I'm here to help you. If not,I wouldn't have come here to save your life. This is my home. I have nowhere to go so just sleep. I will watch over you and when you wake up, I will tell you what you are supposed to know. Until then, you can enjoy this if you are still hungry and thirsty (she looked up and stretched her long hands to pluck something which looked like oranges for them).
"How come we didn't see it all this while?", Odeneho asked.

"Because I can see what you can't see and smell what you can't smell", she replied. Just enjoy it and sleep. I will be here till daybreak, then help you.

EPISODE 5

Just enjoy it and sleep. I will be here till daybreak, then help you. They woke up very early in the morning with no sign of the old woman. She was gone and there were no trace of her. They got up to search for her. "Why would she promise to help them if she knew she wouldn't be able to do so?", Odeneho Kwadwo Sintim said to himself. They got fed up and came back to sit under that same big tree. It was left for them to take another decision and then a choice.

It was their second day and they hadn't gotten anywhere. They got up and decided to continue their journey. Just when they got up, a huge snake fell from the tree. They both ran back. "Nana, it looks just like the snake I saw last night. Though it was dark, I remember it had a shiny scale. I mean the old woman who helped us yesternight", Tutu said. "You mean the old woman who hel..." Before Nana could end his statement, it had already turned into the old woman. "Where were you going? I'm surprised you people do not have patience. I was lieing up there all the while watching you. Sit down and listen to me.

I wouldn't tell you what to do so don't ask me. All I'm going to do is tell you what you looking for. Now, sit down and listen to me", the old woman said. They both sat down waiting to hear and know the truth.
Without wasting much time, she went ahead to say, " I know there are many things going on in your village. Human beings are falling sick and dying strangely. Animals are also dying. As we talk, the water in your village has dried up. Your people are suffering. (They looked each other's faces as she went ahead to talk. It seems she knew more than they knew).

The problem is not far away from you. The problem is with you. Yes, you Odeneho Kwadwo Sintim. You are living with the problem and until you deal with it, your people will continue to die." "Me, how? How possible is that? I've done nothing wrong", Nana said. "My great chief, I never said you have done something wrong. All I'm saying is that you are living with the problem. In short, you are living with a stranger. That stranger is not supposed to be with you.

You have accommodated it, shelted it, fed it and now it has grown to be part of you. Until you deal with that stranger, your people will continue to die" the old woman said. She ended her statement and left. They were both surprised at her statement. A stranger in his home? There was no stranger. While they kept thinking through, Tutu made mention of Asare Bediako, odeneho's friend who came in search of greener pastures and never left. He was the only stranger there and he'd been living with them for some time.

"Yes, Tutu. You are right. He's the only stranger in our land. And that reminds me, all these calamities started befalling us few days after his arrival. Does it mean he did something against the gods before running to this place? I will deal with him once we get back. Come on, let's go", the chief said.

EPISODE 6

"I will deal with him once we get back. Come on, let's go", the chief said. On their way back to the village, the chief couldn't stop talking about what he'd just been told. How could Asare Bediako be that wicked? How could he live with human beings under one roof yet plot evil against them? Why didn't he ran to any other place than a land which once was filled with milk and honey? After all, Odeneho wasn't his only friend. "Oow I see! So he came to end my reign so that he can greedily ascend the throne? No wonder he's always asking about kingship. His days are numbered", Nana said.

"Days? Nana, did you just say days? His seconds are numbered. We can't afford to make him see another day since he wasn't kind enough to make our people see the light of each day. He will pay dearly with his life, but this time not in the hands of man or nature, but fire. Hot fire! I will personally throw him into the lake of fire after setting it up. And I'm more than pretty sure that our people will give us their full support. We can't afford to let him go. He might end up causing harm to another innocent group of people somewhere. Because of him, I lost my wife and unborn child. I lost my mum  and my only sister. I'm the only surviving member of my family. If we should allow him to stay till tomorrow, I'm sure you might as well lose me. Please permit me to do this. The wicked and unjust must not live!", Tutu grunted.

The chief didn't say a word. It wasn't as if he didn't hear anything but his heart, mind and soul were far apart from each other. He gave Asare, and still gives him, all that he requests for. Though he came in search of greener pastures, he was given everything without asking. With where he's gotten to, even if he decides to leave that very day, he would be in need of nothing. What then would make a man be ungrateful?

Nana stopped at a crossroad, stood akimbo, wiped off tears from his eyes with the back of his hand and said, "Tutu, I've been hurt, I've been robbed, I've been stabbed, but the worst of it all is that my life has been buried with innocent blood sweeping my feet. Asare, you started the game and you will end the game today. My people may decide on what to do with such ingrate, but if I realise it's no punishment, then my friend, you will have yourself being tortured before dying. You just can't die without going through hell. You have to stand the test of death. I have spoken!" They continued their journey back to the house without saying a word to each other.

They finally got to a place where they could see buildings. They were out of the forest. They doubled their steps, got to the roadside and bought some kooko and koose for themselves. It was still very early in the morning. Farmers were on their way to their farms, while school children also left for school. They were very hungry so they requested for more of the kooko to fill their bellies before they continued the journey.

How far, how long, how wide can it stretch to exhibit it's commanding prowess over the storms of the day. Or shall it succumb to the harsh efforts of mother nature to subdue and collect this great water in a *lake*.

EPISODE 7

They were very hungry so they requested for more of the kooko to fill their bellies before they continued the journey. They continued to talk while they took in the porridge. One man who was also enjoying his porridge heard them and decided to join in the conversation. "That is how human beings of today are. You decide to help them and they return you with evil. I'm on my way to commit murder this early morning. I don't care spending the rest of my life behind bars. I helped a friend to get some money since he was always coming to ask me for some. After getting what I assisted him to get, he went back to sell my lands. I don't know how he got the documents to my land, but the people he sold the lands to had the original documents in their hands. The worst of it all is that he had his way  with my daughter who is yet to go to class six. That little girl is pregnant. I won't spare him. If he managed to take my lands away, I will take his life and take over his properties. He has acquired enough so it won't be a problem. My brother, if the person has decided to rob you of your happiness, rob his life. He doesn't deserve to live", he said.

"Hmmm", Nana said. "I'm really sorry for you. It's a very sad story, but what we saying is something that happened to a friend. We are concerned because he's close to us", Nana continued to hide the truth. He didn't want anyone to know about what was going on. He can't wash his dirty linens in public and expect to earn respect from them. He excused himself and left with Tutu.
"Nana, that was a smart way of ending the conversation. You are really endowed with wisdom. I was scared when you opened your mouth to talk because we didn't know who he was, but you proved to me that you are more than a man. The gods have blessed you. You will reign forever. Your reign shall from today know no disgrace. The eye that watches you with sheer jealousy will have it's way out of it's socket. The hands that sow evil against you will germinate and rot with evil. Till your successor is due to ascend the throne, you will leave to enjoy your labour", Tutu blessed and showered praises on Odeneho Kwadwo Sintim.

He nodded his head and smiled as Tutu poured his heartfelt words. He was really enjoying every bit of it. He had few minutes or hours to end the calamity in his village and his people would be happy again... His people would be free. They would only die natural deaths and not aportion blames on him. He lifted his head and said, "Tutu, we have finally made it. Look at it(pointing at a building). We are back!" They doubled their steps in order to get there on time.

EPISODE 8

"We are back!" They doubled their steps in order to get there on time. "They are back oooo! They are back!! Great people of Asabum, our chief is back! He is back with the solution to our problems. Come out, come let's welcome him", a woman who was on her way to her farm shouted. They all rushed out to meet the chief and Tutu. They couldn't hide their joy when they saw them back alive. They knew their woes were finally over.

The chief responded to their greetings and welcoming messages. He lifted his hand and waved at them as a sign of victory. They shouted with joy as he told them to go to their individual homes. He would summon them at the right time and deliver to them whatever they were supposed to know. He left to his palace in the company of Tutu. He met his wife right in front of their apartment. She was also preparing to go and meet her husband as she'd heard of his arrival.

Nothing moves the heart of a loving woman than the presence of her beloved husband. She ran to embrace him tightly, that called for tears to fill her eyes. "My lord, I've missed you. The dark ages of yesterday couldn't permit  me to put my head to sleep. I was wondering when you were going to return but the gods have heard my cry. Let's go indoors for me to give you a very nice and warm treat. You must be tired. Your royal successor is also sleeping", she said. "Oow Tutu, you are welcome. I'm sorry okay. The presence of my husband has caused me not to see any other thing than him. Hope you are good, and also returned with good news because our people are very aggressive", she added.

As shy as Tutu was, all he could do was to smile at the chief's wife. She led her husband away to their room, prepared water for him to wash down and set the table ready for him to eat.

While he ate, his wife came to sit by him and wrapped her hand around his shoulder. She put her head on his shoulder as a sign of telling him she'd missed him. The chief raised his head, looked at her, smiled and said, "I'm not too dumb to understand you my dear. Let me finish up okay." "Alright my love. I know you are tired so just relax for me....and hei, you haven't asked of the whereabout of your friend since your arrival. I'm not sure he's aware you are back. I will go and fetch him while you enjoy your meal", she replied.

"Go and fetch who? Don't call for my wrath woman! It's too early for that. I will fetch him when I need him, and I will do that with the help of my guards and not you. Now, will you sit down and tell me what happened in my absence?" Odeneho angrily asked.

EPISODE 9

Now, will you sit down and tell me what happened in my absence?" Odeneho angrily asked. Odeneho Kwadwo Sintim's wife was shocked at her husband's reaction. Was there something she didn't know? She wanted to be sure of what she heard so she went ahead to say, "my lord, I'm talking of your own friend and Asare Bediako. What has he done? You were with him few minutes before your people came to you crying yesterday. You never told me you people had a problem. Well, whatever the problem is, you need to settle your differences before it gets out of hand."

"Woman? I can see you have the venom of viper running in your blood. You better wash it out or I put you where you rightfully belong", he said and left the food on the table. His wife ran after him to apologise. She hadn't seen him like that before since they got married. There was certainly a problem she didn't know. Why would Asare hide something from her?
They were both together at the living room when the husband left. He could have confided in her or wasn't she trustworthy enough? She continued to ran after her husband to apologize to him but her legs were too heavy to catch up with the slow pace of Odeneho.

He entered his room and slammed the door in the face of his wife. He locked it and shouted, "now, you stay away from me until I request to have you around. I will not have you disrespect me under my own roof. Now, go! Go and attend to the next chief of this land before he cries." The chief's wife didn't have anything to say, even if she had something to say, her words were not enough to explain herself. She turned to go back and attend to her baby. Her face depicted that of woman who had been tortured. She tried so hard to put herself together but she couldn't.

"Our wife, are you alright?", out of nowhere, Asare appeared and questioned. She put up a lie but her face and voice betrayed her. "Why would you do this to yourself? I heard my very best friend, your husband has arrived and I'm here to welcome him. Where is he? Heard he's been around for long and he didn't bother to search for me. Wait here, let me see him first okay?" Asare Bediako said. "No no no please. Allow him have some rest. He doesn't want to see anyone for now. All he needs is rest. He will meet his people soon. Please leave him to sleep", she begged. "Yes, Asare. Leave me to rest", Nana replied from his room.
