"Cold desert"
Episode 2 - Eden
I have no family.....but...I have family, yes, I have. I ran to the mission house."
I ran to the mission house though it was late. Didn't know where to knock. Should it be on the window or the door? I was so scared at this time. I lost hope and sat in front of the door, buried my head between my legs and slept off.
A new day was here with me and I was still deep into sleep.
I heard someone talk but it was just faint enough to wake me. Her soft palm and gentle touch gave me hope and reason to wake up and face the day.
That was Sofomaame Bruwaa. She was well known for her caring attitude towards all. I narrated my plight to her which she equally shared in. She held me by the hand, wiped my tears and gave me comfort. That is a mother. Her love is far beyond description.
I didn't find reasons to return to that house. They may come again, if not for anything, to haunt me.
I would rather stay at the mission house. God is there. He won't sit and watch people come there to kill me.
For once, I would enjoy sleeping with light and fan. I might not eat at the dinning table, but I would enjoy good food.
That is the mission house I'm talking about.
I've been there for few weeks and the pastor has not been around. I got to know during one of my conversations with my *new mother* that he had traveled to *Canada* and would return the following day.
Preparations were made to welcome him since he'd been away for long. I was getting nervous because he would decide my fate in that house.
I wasn't the *chrife* type but I went on my knees that evening and prayed to God.
I prayed fervently, not for traveling mercies on behalf of the pastor but for an accommodating heart. My parents told me God answers prayers so I knew He would do this for me.
To Be Continued .
