EPISODE 14

No one can trace me for now, not even my mother.

I took my small bag which contained the little things I would need while away. I opened the door gently and creeped out of my room.
There were people sitting on our corridor.
Who could they be? I stretched my neck to see who they were. I heard my mum call me, "barima, where are you heading to at this time? Anyway, your father and I want to have some few words with you so come and sit down".
My heart jumped from it's actual position. I could feel it jumping in my abdomen. I hoped there was no issue.

In as much as I knew that they didn't know what was going on, I also felt very uncomfortable. I drew closer and saw four other people. That was Achiaa in the company of one man and woman,  and a native of Oyoko.
I'm sure she directed them to the house. "I beg to take my leave now that we have seen him", she said and left.

This woman is really a gossipe. How did she know I was the one they were looking for?
Hmmmm...I got myself a chair and sat uncomfortably on it. I could feel the people were watching me. Who were they? I'm not sure those were her parents. They were too rich to be her parents.

"My son", my mum started..."You remember when you came home, I asked you if there was any issue. You are my son. I know it when there is something wrong with you but you denied it. Anyway, do you know this lady here? She said she's pregnant for you. She came with your picture. What do you have to say?"
I sat there quietly and thought of what I will go through if I should accept the pregnancy. I denied it. I told them she was a friend I met at where I had my service. We never became intimate. She took my picture that she would miss me in my absence, not knowing she had her own plan in mind. I got up and left after I had said that.

My mum called me severally but I didn't bother to say a word. As for my father, he didn't open his mouth.
I overhead the two strangers talk rudely to Achiaa. From all indications, they were her parents. Was she that rich? Why did she lie to me?
I stood and watched them as they drove away in their land cruiser. They left behind Achiaa who cried and ran after them. I pretended I hadn't seen her and went to my room.
My father followed me as soon as I entered the room.

"H33, fa w'enimguase3 no bra ha. It's not as if I didn't want to say a word. It's because I know and I'm sure you are responsible. That family is the wealthiest in Tafo. They lost their first child, and I'm sure they are trying their best to make this lady's life look like heaven,  but what did you do? You rather went to impregnate her and you stand here, and lie to me. I curse the day I gave birth to you!"
My father angrily said and walked out on me. His words meant nothing to me. I carried my bag and left the house without informing anyone.
